Clutch goes nuts

Hi. I haven’t posted on the forum before so apologies if there are any lapses in protocol here. Can anyone offer any advice, or had previous experience of the following.

I have a 991.1 2S manual, seven years old and I’ve had it for two. Recently the clutch blew without any prior warning. It hadn’t been driven for three or four weeks beforehand as I was away. The technician at PC Bristol found a large quantity of beech nuts (there’s a small ventilation hole in the housing) which, they said, had broken various parts of the clutch mechanism. Their view was the nuts were the primary cause and that the clutch had broken, not worn down. So I contacted my insurers, admittedly after the event.
My insurance company have rejected my claim on the grounds of gradual deterioration, natural wear and tear and the irrelevance of the beech nuts. They state: " The fact the vehicle was left standing for 3 weeks is more likely to be a factor as the clutch plate can stick to the flywheel as if isn’t being released for this period. Clutch plate sticking to flywheel would be "Gradual” in my opinion.”

I have never heard of a clutch blowout after three weeks of non-use. Has anyone else? Thanks
