what tires you run and whats your opinion ?

Did a search and seems to be about every 12 months that one of these threads pop up in the 996 sub fora so figured it may as well be me [:)]

So, just picked up my new (to me) 996 C2 Cab, and its lovely, but i have noticed that the tire noise at motorway speeds is damn loud.

It's got Porsche Sport Classic Design 18" wheels with Pirelli P Zero Rosso's on all corners (225/40 ZR18's front 285/30 ZR18's back) and all look to have only a few thousand miles on them if that (not sure how old they are though, was a bit too cold to go looking for dots)

whats the general opinion on that combo? and what pressures do people run them at here?

I have previously run Bridgestone Potenza's on my old aircooled and on my 370Z and found them much quieter (admittedly they also weren't cabs and it was in a much hotter country than the UK)

Cant remember the sizes on my C4S cab, but i think the rears are slightly larger. Front stats the same, but Im on Mich Pilot Sports, I found them much quieter than Pirelli PZeros Id had on cabs in the past.
Don't feel I am 'racing' enough to tell you what extremes of handling they have compared to others, but they suit me very well.

Having spent some time at Pirelli F1 at the weekend and chatting to a guy about tyres, think it's time I re-evaluate my opinion when changing them next. Difficulty is, you can't really 'try before you buy' tyres.

Like you say, i doubt i will be "racing" mine too much either, some spirited drives on B roads, a bit of autobahn-storming and ideally something thats a bit of an all-rounder for dry and wet.

Seen the love for the Sport Pilots in previous years versions of this post but have no experience of them.

I was also wondering at the profile of my rear's, interesting to see that you may have different size rear boots, would be interesting to see what others run.

The earlier Carrera's had 265/35ZR18 rear's. I moved over to PS2 N3 - great tyre. The later Michelin generation of tyre are not officially rated for our model, if you can get hold of them on 18s.
