Hello Gary

All booked, it was a great day last year. I'm going to follow John and Sally again, not because John is a good driver, it's because Sally is a great navigator. It should be another great R10 event. It's February, frosty, cold, I can't wait for sunny June[:)].

Hi Gary

We are all booked in and looking forward to our first R10 event (so far) being new to the club.

What's the actual format of these Rallies? Is it actual driving, route plan, that kind of stuff? mass start or timed? Just trying to get a feel for what this is all about I'm new around here (rookie alert) ...oh and I have entered already. In with both feet and all that.

The first thing to say is that you certainly will enjoy the day. I have done quite a few of these rallies, mostly with classic car clubs but last year was my first go at the R10 rally and it was exceptionally well organised. Definitely up there with the best of them.

The routine is that everyone meets up at Dove house in the morning for coffee, pastries. And a drivers briefing (have a notebook with you). Then you'll be given your route plan, called a 'road book'. This contains your directions and is usually in the form of tulip diagrams and distances. These are symbols that tell you to turn right, left or go straight . For instance it might say, after 0.5 miles turn right, then after 3 miles at the roundabout go straight on, then after 0.75 miles turn left, and so on. It is really easy and good fun. If you go wrong you'll soon know and you just retrace your steps until you’re back on track.

At a designated time, everyone is free to leave when they wish. It is not a race, and on this rally there are no times control points. Just great roads to drive. Just remember, your navigator is always right....even when they are not, especially if they are the other half😉.

The rally ends up somewhere nice for something to eat and a get together. My only criticism is that there are not enough of them . It would be great if every region did one.

Hope you enjoy the 2020 event.

Sounds great. Super excited. My navigator has just been informed about her role. She can't wait [sic] 😃

Thanks Chris for such a brilliant description. I am so pleased you think that about our rally. It makes all the hard work and effort and support from all involved worth while. Please spread the word as much as you can and hope to see you and all there.

PCGB R10.

P.S. Are you doing this years?

Hi - thanks also for the description. As a newbie I'd already booked without acutally thinking about the detail!

Look forward to meeting you all on the day.

Richard
