I got this message:

Your vehicle does not meet the selected criteria for the award of an Air Quality Certificate.

I want to go to France this summer before they close the boarders and this country refuses to let anyone in or out.

I also hope to go back to Le Mans next year, when it gets interesting again.

Has anyone managed to negotiate the system?

Alright, so cars registered before 1997 do not need one, but are restricted from certain areas:

The only one that would affect me is Lyon, if I go to the South of France, I tend to drive through Lyon on the Autoroute, because it's much shorter that going around. So, it appears, it is better to go around and use far more fuel, rather than going through on the A6/A7? Doesn't make sense[&:]

Not looked through the links in any posts yet, but I vaguely recall from a drive 2018 to Loire Atlantic that certain city restrictions are around times of day (i.e. peak traffic periods). I might be incorrect but I do remember reading this somewhere and on my trip it didn't apply.

This is kind of what I'm banking on.
