What’s the plug? Boxster S 2001

Afternoon all.

Today I replaced the battery on the Porsche and while I was there I noticed a plug and clear hose in the battery area on the drivers side.

Can anyone tell me what they might be for and if there’s anything missing from my Porsche that I can replace.

I’m keen to keep the car original so if anything is missing I’d like to put it back.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Pete.

I think the clear hose is for a battery vent. Some batteries have a small vent (little plastic pipe stub) protruding from the top of the battery to vent gasses.
No idea about the plug.

Of course I hadn’t thought about a battery vent!

I’ll have to get the multi meter out and see if there’s power to the plug and try and trace it back.

thanks for your replies.

I can't quite see the wire colours on the plug, but if one is black with a yellow tracer, and the other is brown, then it is for one of the heated washer jets. It is an ignition switched supply.

I’ll check the wire colour and confirm next time I go to the garage. It’s certainly in the right place to be washed related.

Had a look and your right about the colours. Theres a second pair of the same cables to the right that I have just noticed so I’ll have a look and see if one of the washers is unplugged.

While you have the battery out clean up the tray - remove it and clean the drainplugs - 4 of them
