Locksmith for spare key?

I have posted this request also on the R8 forum, but no luck so far.

Recently I acquired a 1980 911 SC that's been in the family since new. Unfortunately it has only one key and that's looking a little middle-aged and before I break it I'd like to get a couple of new duplicates.

So please can anyone recommend a locksmith in the East or West Midlands who can produce a spare key - it's a purely old school mechanical no electronics jobbie.

Thanks,
Julian

Hi Julian..it was great to see your SC - what a delightful car.

There is a Shoe Repair store next door to Iceland on the Stratford Road in Shirley - they have cut keys for various classic cars including my 914. The guys name is Martin if I recall correctly...

Cheers

Any decent key cutting place should be able to do it. If they dont have the blanks we have 3 different styles listed for the 911

Thanks all for your suggestions.

I went to Timpsons first and the keys kinda fit and kinda don't. That is they're a bad fit and I don't like the thought of what they're doing to the locks and ignition switch.

Key cutting guys seem very variable in their skills. It was a revelation to me when I first got house keys cut by a real locksmith rather than our local key-heel-dogtag guy.

Thanks again
Julian
