How Many Orient Red 996's are there?

On the lookout for a 996 at the moment, and after something a little more colourful than the norm (as its going to be a weekend car rather than daily driver) and have settled on Orient Red (would have loved Zanzibar Red but my budget doesn't run to a GT sadly).

I just missed a Targa, but otherwise they seem to be like hens teeth.

Anyone have any idea how many RHD Orient Red 996's were sold originally just so that i can have an idea how long i may have to wait / adjust my expectations :)

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but like you say incredibly rare. What if a car comes up and the spec/price/condition/mileage isn't what you're looking for?
You're probably better off getting a car you like and wrapping it instead, if you get bored you can always swap the wrap for another colour?

Looked at Wraps before but just not a fan of them.

Will give it a few months then set my expectations a little lower :)

I had an Orient Red 986 Boxster. Absolutely loved the colour (and the car). In the 6 years and 80,000 miles I had it I think I only ever saw one 996 the same colour, so you might have to wait a while.....

I found the 996 colour chart for 2003, 3 shades of red and good old speed yellow, all appeal to me, all seem to be as rare as Rocking Horse dooh daah's.

Going to have a look at a Cobalt Blue one this weekend to see if that gets close to the mark colour wise.

You could add Carmon Red metallic too? Code M3W. Similar to Orient Red, that might give you another car or two to chose from.
I have tried to get 996 colour quantities with no luck.

After some wise words from here, have done a slight compromise and put a deposit down on a Cobalt Blue C2.

On seeing the car in the Metal it also looked very nice, and its an exceptional car too, so rather than faffing around with hunting down a unicorn, or buying a lemon on colour, job done, deposit down!

Thanks for some sensible input!

Congratulations! Cobalt is an outstanding colour and is likely to have a wider market appeal. Post pictures when you get it!

I have a 2000 3.4 c4 manual in Orient with 76,000 miles and would love to know the answer to your question myself. Congratulations on finding a Cobalt blue that you have fallen in love with, they are great cars. Came across mine purely by chance and wasn't specifically looking for that colour. Chap quite local had been trying to sell it on ebay and Autotrader for some time, I took one look at it in the early evening sunlight and had to have it. The fact it had carbon interior spec, non sunroof and hardback sports seats was a great bonus. You can see pics on here or on Instagram @spiegelie_911 . I look forward to seeing pics of your car soon.

She arrived, just before Ciara too ...

Cobalt Blue in the end, went for best condition to spec then looked for some colour and found this one. even has a 3 year warranty !!! Happy Chap!
