986 Boxster FRONT LATCH

Hello, can somebody please help me? Car is a 2002 Boxster 986. I do not have a 12V power supply to the servo/motor which acutates the front luggage compartment lid. Tried eliminating the switch by plugging the rear engine lid working switch into the front multi-plug (by side of drivers seat) and it still opened the rear??? bizarre and that stopped me in my tracks! Currently have a separate 12v supply from the nearby battery and 2 wires dangling in the passenger side which opens the front. Is there a common bad connection area? Any help / direction appreciated
