In the often heated debate about the F-4T vs the nasp F-6 we tend to forget that in many countries cars are taxed by engine displacement, so it's not just subjective issues such as what it sounds like which influence sales, although I'm sure that's still a factor.
Interesting to note that in the US, Walliser expects demand for the flat-six-powered 718 Cayman GT4 and Spyder to be greater than all the flat-four cars, so you can understand the impetus for Porsche to introduce the F-6 engine on another Cayman and Boxster variant to keep a very important market on-side.
His comments about an electric version of the Cayman are also interesting. If Porsche are still dithering about the form of a Cayman replacement, it does make you wonder how long production of the current model is going to be stretched out. Bearing in mind that development of a new car takes a long time, we may be seeing quite a few 718 'updates'.
