718 tyre replacement - Pirelli or Michelin

Tyres are around 3-4mm tread so now’s the time to start thinking about replacements. I’ve always gone with whatever was originally fitted so all my previous Boxster’s have had Michelin Pilot Sports and had no issues with them - good mileage as well easily getting around 20,000 miles mainly A roads & motorways/autoroutes.
The 718 (non S) is fitted with Pirelli’s which at around 17,500 miles are lasting OK but don’t think they’re going to last as long as the Michelin’s.
Toying between Pirelli’s and Michelin’.
Anyone fitted Michelins to their 718 and what do you think?

Hi Trevor
are your Pirelli N0 or N1 ?
Ive always favoured Michelin but my new 718T has Pirelli zero N1 and I’m very impressed.

Hi Tony
Sorry forgot to reply but been out in it today - they’re N1’s. Haven’t any issues apart from the Ackerman effect on full lock when tyres are cold - even today after over 260 miles they’re still tracking as if on square wheels! Don’t recollect the Michelin’s being as bad as that.

Replaced Pirelli with Goodyear Eagle F1 NO all round in June.

4000 miles plus since change. Better in my view.

I also went from Pirelli N0 to Michelin PS4S on my 981 BGTS and they are very good indeed, but any new tyre feels better than old ones. The Eagle F1 were on my previous 981 and were also good. If you haven't a favourite I would look for the best deal between Pirelli N1, Eagle F1 N0 and Michelin PS4S N0.

Trevor,

If you've not had it done recently - or at all - it may be time to get a full geometry check done either before or after changing the tyres if you're getting bad tramlining.

UPDATE - my hand was forced somewhat when I managed to pick up a screw near the shoulder on one of the rear tyres - irreparable so new tyre needed. Ended up going to Kwikfit as they had 10% off 2 x Pirelli’s and it is literally just down the road (although I had to take the punctured tyre separately as it wouldn’t seal with the gunk).
The fronts will get replaced soon in the New Year but still at 3-4mm so not desperate.
