Can any body help.....I have a Boxster S 2003.....There is an annoying squeaking noise coming from the rear when I go over bumps. I have googled it and the shocks seem to be an option, it also sometimes sounds like some one has left spanners in the boot and cluck together. strange I know, but has anyone got any comments? Thanks Dave

Squeaking would normally be from a rubber part - anti-roll bar mountings, suspension bushes etc - need to get it up on a ramp to check. Clunking could be anything but also anti-roll bar mounts, drop-links worn.

Hi i have the same model 2003 986S and same noises . I took her to an indy last week and although i thought the noise was from the rear they coud only find badly worn drop links on teh front anti roll bar and suggested that is the problem. Having it fixed in 10 days time so might be same on yours..

Hi...thanks for taking the time to reply...I've had that issue last year and had them replaced..I went to a garage today and they seem to think it's the shock absorbers
..booked in on the 25th so will let you also know...cheers dave....PS great cars

If you have an annoying little knock/rattle from the rear, that sounds like it's coming from behind the bottom of the seats, it may be the lower rear arms. They have a spherical joint where they attach to the chassis, which knocks, although on inspection it's virtually inpossible to detect any play. You can get TRW ones, which are the original part, they just grind the Porsche logo off, for about 70 quid each.

Hi Loveday how did teh shocks go on 25th?. I had my front droplinks renewed yesterdaya nd thsi made quite a diff to teh main rattling noises when going over rough roads although there is still a bit of a rumbling from teh rear and based on other peoples feedback my guess it will be teh control arms so interested to hear what diff new shocks made. Thx Graham
