Which CTek model conditioner for a 718?

My Accumate battery conditioner (that I’ve had 15 years) now decides that the green "charged" led doesn’t want to light. I’m assuming it’s the led and not the battery (car registered late Jan 2017, 17,500 miles).
Working on that basis and not wanting to take any risk with the battery, looking at replacing my conditioner with a CTek but which model. The 38 model that the Club sell is out of stock but unsure whether that is the correct model or do I go for a 50? Or do I stick with Accumate?

Trevor,

I reckon that the MSX 3.8 will be fine for your 718 (up to 85A-hr). The MSX 5.0 just has a higher max charge current, but both are suitable for all types of battery.

I've been using a CTek conditioner for more than 9-years without problems.

I am too tight to buy the C-Tek conditioners, so I have been using the Aldi/Lidl version for my 968 for all of the time I've had it.

I've had the car for 12 years and have to admit that I'm now on my second charger, but you can have quite a few for the cost of a C-Tek. I had to replace the battery itself last year, but as I don't know how old it was when I got the car, I don't think it did too badly. It wasn't dead by any means and still started the car quite happily, but I wanted to make sure that it had enough in reserve so that I could comfortably use my 12V cool box.

Cheers Simon - that’s pretty good value but wonder how long it would last - 3 year warranty is pretty good though. My Accumate has lasted 15 years (and probably is still working but don’t want to risk it) so I’m between getting another Accumate or going and splashing out on a CTek. I’ll have a think & decide.

Bought an ALDI unit a few days ago for £12.50.
This will be my first charger of this type for 50 years, but at £12.50 it seems far too good to be true?

However, recently read of a pro storage facility who are so impressed they bought 20!

Time will tell.

I have the MSX 5.0 too and had no problems leaving it on for weeks at a time, especially over the winter period.

If you have a stop/start battery Ctek have a product specifically for them. Just got one for my S3.

Lidl /Aldi ...have said many many times best value on the market at £14 I have 2 running at present and one Ctek both do the same job .The negative off the Lidl /Aldi is it uses croc clips and if you are connecting to a 981 or 718 the battery scuttle has to come off to get to the battery whereas the 986/987 battery cover is a 2 second job .some have bought the cig lighter adapter and converted it .I have always a couple of spare ones at this price if you want will sell an older model for £6+pp

I've had the car 12 years and I'm on my second one. I think that the first lasted about 9 years. It stopped working after I left it switched on without the car connected for a week or so, so may have been my own fault?

UPDATE
Well after all that, the green led on the Accumate is now working again so I’ll continue to use that[:)]
Thanks for your replies.
