Cayman Register Secretary

In the latest Porsche Post which I received last week our RS Kevan Sutherns said he was resigning and that we should have received a MailChimp notification from the club office - has anyone received one yet?

Thank you for your effort as Cayman RS Kevan, and for your support with the informal gatherings I’ve organised in the south.

I have in the past received what I assume to be MailChimp Cayman Register notifications but haven't yet received anything about his resignation or possible successor.

I'd like to echo Andrew's thanks to Kevan for his sterling efforts as our Register Secretary over the years. Cayman ownership and the size of the Register has grown significantly in my 10-years of Cayman ownership and I'm sure the new Secretary will build on Kevan's work, aided and supported by the Membership.

Jeff

I echo Jeff's comments above. Kevan has been a great ambassdor for the Register and the Club also.

I'll not miss his wit as were FB friends!

I can tell you that I have heard nothing from the club either, I have been on holiday in New Zealand doing a motorbike tour for the past month and expected to get something through my personal address but, nothing. I did propose a replacement but apparently they have to select from applicants, however, in my absence it appears that none have been requested which I expected the Mailchimp to be issued for!

I will remain in place until such time as this state of affairs changes. and so anyone PMing me from this point the system should notify me through my personal email.

Membership has grown from around 220 when I took the register on in 2012 and is now approaching 1350 so not the biggest register but far from the smallest.

A couple of days before starting this thread I emailed the club office and Register Director to ask about the MailChimp email and what the process is for finding a replacement.

I didn’t get a reply from the Register Director but Steve Gillings in the club office replied on the 4th Nov saying......

“.......To confirm once again, the position is still open on the Cayman register secretary and David Carnaffin (Register & Technical Director) is currently draughting a proposal on the way forward with the registers. We have received several approaches relating to a small number of vacant RS positions and are formulating the best way to review these.........”

So if anyone wants to be considered they should contact the club office. I will not apply, I’m happy to just organise the occasional meeting in the south.

I hope you enjoyed you NZ holiday Kevan, you should post a report here even though you were on a motorbike and not in a Cayman - we like reading about road trips!

Ooh dear..

i withdrew my application as was told they had received several applicants. 🤷‍♀️.

The Register Director does not seem to be visible these days, Modified Register emailed him on another matter but never had a response. So a month on the process for a new RS and no request for applicants, it's would be nice to be taken seriously.

Still think your the person for the job Helen with your experience and enthusiasm.

Get your application back in. [;)]

For what it is worth I have just emailed the Club Chairperson saying we need some urgency here to publish the process, how we get a say, and get an new RS.

Ralph,

Please keep us updated on any response you get. If necessary, I'm sure many of us regular forum contributors would be willing to voice the same concerns as you in the hope of getting some urgent action.

100% agree Cliff.

Helen would be a fantastic asset to the register and the club.

Chaps,

Edwina has asked the Register Director to provide (I expect) the wider Cayman Register with an update on his process and progress in organising a solution for the Cayman register.

She notes that she understands there has been plenty of interest.

Table a Vote of No Confidence ?

We could have expected exactly this result when Job Descriptions are published for Board Roles but ineligible candidates are not eliminated.

The Striving For Excellence programme seems to have given even non-recommended participants a sense of entitlement ..

My 2p !

cheers, Maurice

Maurice,

I think it would be better to deal with the Cayman vacancy as an opportunity to show how well an open and transparent process involving a lively membership group can work.

Thanks for the update Ralph.

As I've mention before, the Cayman Register has grown significantly during my 10-years of Club Membership and must surely now be one of the largest Registers, and with this it's importance both to the Club and its Membership. Hopefully we'll be hearing from the RD sooner rather than later about filling the vacant RS position.

Jeff

Chaps,

I have not heard anything following Edwina’s response two weeks ago and judging by the lack of posts reporting progress neither have any other register members.

I have sent a follow-up email to Edwina expressing no little disappointment at the lack of communication following her intervention. One does start to wonder about Club management process and commitment of officials.

Ralph

The register director never did reply to my email and I’ve heard no more from the club office either.

They must be working on a master plan to merge registers so there are just three, front engine, mid engine, and rear engine :)

Ralph, Andrew,

That's very disappointing to hear. It seems that there's been plenty of interest in the position, and the Register Director has had more than a month to make a decision.

I think it's time to for me to ask the RD directly what's happening, and maybe others on here feel the same. Dave Carnaffin can be contacted on register@porscheclubgb.com
