I am putting together a trip to IWM Duxford

please buy your own tickets on the IWM Duxford web site for sunday 9th Feb 2020 and we will meet there for 10am.

This sounds a bit special. I was there last summer and have wanted an excuse to return. Interestingly, tucked away in one of the hangars, under covers, was a GT2 which one of the guys working there said belonged to ‘the boss’.

Great idea Helen. It's an excellent venue - I recall going there on a couple of separate occasions with the Club but unfortunately can't recall what events they were.

Keep us posted.

Jeff

Great idea I might be able to do it just depends on weather and if the Cayman R is not on sorn at the time.

Pity it's in the winter hope to see some summer events as well. Helen are you now running Cayman event's?

Hi Cliff,

i did put my name forward to be R/S but it seems there was quite a few others interested too. but, as i have been an R/O and R/S before i thought i would give someone else a go at it. So i withdrew my application.

happy to help out at any event though 👍😎

That’s a shame Helen you would have made a great RS but I will support your events if I can

could if done with a bit of girl power

Hi all. Really sorry but i am going to have to cancel this as Duxford want (min) payment for 100 people @ £15 each up front. while i am more than confident of getting that number as i have already had more than 40 cars showing interest. I am not able to cover these up front costs myself and than have to pay out to post everyone their tickets in time for the event.

we could meet up and park in the public car park but then ticket price will be (£18 on-line in advance) £20 per person at the gate. And there will be not photo opportunity with our cars.

alternative is to move the event to iwm Cosford who just charge a parking fee but because its oop north we usually don’t get the numbers attending.

Hi Helen,

Shame about that. Sounds like we should all book tickets on line and meet up in the public car park.

Had a quick look at the new Silverstone Experience on Saturday. that would make a good group visit some time. plenty of parking.

Cheers

Gary

Ooh, have they added something recently? I was last there in August but I fancy the idea of heading back next spring.

Helen,

If you're looking for an alternative aircraft-based Southern venue you could have a look at the Shuttleworth Collection, based at Old Warden Aerodrome, Beds. https://www.shuttleworth.org/

Some very interesting historic vintage aircraft and other vehicles, etc. are on display, and there's plenty of parking space. The Swiss Garden adjacent to the Collection is a good place to visit for those whose interests extend beyond Porsches..!

I understand someone else has stepped up to be the register secretary so i wouldn’t want to stomp all over their plans for the register.

i will carry on the above meet with people buying their own tickets on line and meeting in the public car park at 10am

i have already bought my tickets.

Hi Helen,

I’m wondering where you learned that information? I read in the latest Porsche Post that Kevan is standing down as RS and that register members were to be notified via MailChimp - I haven’t received that MaiLChimp, have you? I’ve organised several Cayman Register meetings in the south and am keen not to tread on the toes of the new RS either.

Thanks, Andrew.

No i have never received any emails from the caymen register.

i applied to be R/S and was told there had been several other applications. So as i have done the job before i thought i would give someone else the chance to do it.. so i withdrew my application.

Hi Helen,

this is strange; I'm one of the team that support the Club's mailchimp (Newsletter) system. As such, I can see you opened all the newsletters since May 2019, including the latest 'Caymans & Coffee at Goodwood Motor Circuit - Sunday 27 October'

Best

Nick

Thank you nick yes you are correct.. but there was nothing in the last one about the R/S job..

i had no idea what the “mailchimp“ they were talking about was..

i’m old
