Creaking Strut Top Mounts? on 987.2 R

Hi All,
I’ve read up on this and it seems quite a common issue on Caymans/Boxsters of this age (7 years old, 15,600 miles) If that’s what it is, but my gut feeling and experience of same issue on previous cars leads me to this conclusion.
I’m looking for your thoughts on replacing them with the standard OEM mounts that seem to have a limited lifespan or fitting uprated/better engineered ones that will hopefully last a lot longer, not got a Porsche warranty so fitting an aftermarket product not a issue, I would appreciate any views or recommendations of any tried and tested mounts

Thanks
Gordy

I haven't changed them on either of the Caymans I have owned but did once get told by a dealership that mine were creaking on my 987.1S oddly it stopped creaking and never did it again, I parted with that car when it had 88,000miles on it, if they get more use they don't sit in one position.

I had this problem on my Cayman R. The technician said he would lubricate them whilst it was in for a check. Unfortunately I did not see what he actually did, but it was cured and there was no charge so it did not take long. I would try squirting some silicon lubricant up under the mounting.

Thanks lads,

funnily enough I noticed creaking had disappeared for a bit but had returned after a couple of spirited drives, I will try lubricating them and hopefully that cures the noise

Cheers

Gordy,

Back in the day it was recommended to squirt some washing-up liquid in squeaking suspension joints. Can't recall what happened after the first downpour but I guess that the suspension was "squeaky clean"..!

These days I'm sure that there are much better alternatives.

Jeff
