Hi Guys, just re-joined the Porsche fraternity having been without one since Nov 1012. Anyone know what happened to F307OFJ my SE Turbo after I sold it to a guy in the outskirts of Edinburgh. I even delivered it to him. its not been registered since so I guess he may have changed the number, it still shows a 944 according to the DVLA, or he used it for racing. It had a bit of tin worm issues around the sills and rear arches but nothing substantial. it was good mechanically , I put a new Turbo in it .. maybe I should have kept it. I bought an MGC Roadster which I was able to work on myself and have recently sold it for a Cayman S 2008 MY …. and put some money in the bank
I see there are still some of the Titanic members around. My car once made the cover of Porsche Post... maybe Oct 88. I might try and find the shot

Sorry no error one of only 2
PORSCHE 944 TURBO S

F307 OFJ 1st registered on 1/8/88
Chassis number WPOZZZ952JN101642

This is one of 70 limited edition "Silver Rose” cars imported to the UK. The Silver Rose designation comes from the paint finish of these cars most of which were finished in a metallic pink colour. They also had a unique cloth seat pattern. A handful of cars were finished to the same spec but in standard colours. It is believed only about 25 examples remain.

The specification differs in the following respects from the standard 944 turbo:-

  1. 1. No sunroof but air-conditioning
  2. 2. Sekuriflex (Plastic) windscreen and side windows to save weight
  3. 3. Drop forged alloys for strength with light weight
  4. 4. Leather interior with split rear seat backrest
  5. 5. MO30 Adjustable ride height suspension
  6. 6. ABS Brakes as used on 928 S4 with 4 pot callipers
  7. 7. Engine power 247 BHP (F307 OFJ recorded 271 on 7/5/05
  8. 8. Limited Slip diff with Transmission Oil cooler
  9. 9. Larger Torsion bars
  10. 10. Remapped ECU
  11. 11. 10 Speaker Stereo

I had the car 12 years and was very active with the then brilliant Titanic forum so i'd like to think I know a little about it. TIPEC organised a meeting about 2005 and 17 Silverrose cars attended. Not all were the aforementioned colour. One was black that I can remember and my white one. The point I was making was that it was a fairly rare car.
Thanks for the convivial welcome back to Porsche ownership

Hi Eddie

Afraid I can't help with your search but can say it's very good to see you back sir, the Titanic days were by far the best...the group we had then were all true fans and we used to come out to play often...I still have many fond memories from those far off days...:)
Kind regards

Pete

I've had my car 11 years, and I've been on here longer than that, so no history lesson required thanks. The internet is rife with misinformed opinions that some regard as facts. It would appear that a little, is indeed what you know about it.

Hi Eddie,
Welcome back! not seen your car since you sold it, but they do sometimes resurface many years later. I guess Blade's issue is you called it a white silver rose when silver rose is the pink colour rather than the model designation - not much of a greeting though ;)
I remember your car as a cover star, was a good photo. What colour is the Cayman?
cheers,
Tony

Not much wrong with my initial response IMO, or my follow up after the rather patronising reply.

Blimey - titanic that brings back memories, I think that is where I got into wanting a Turbo and brought my white 944S down to a rolling road session at Silverstone and then later repeated the session with my newly acquired 944 Turbo which burst a coolant pipe after putting out a good figure. I remember a few of you stayed behind (Fen included) to make sure my car got recovered properly [:D]

Haven't seen your car but will keep an eye out - I've been trying to find some history on my Turbo as I have an old print-out from the dealer that shows it was originally a Porsche Press car for perhaps several years as the earliest history I have for it apart from that is some correspondence from the Porsche dealer when they eventually sold it in 1994.

Thanks for the welcome back from the old guard. Much appreciated. I thought about another 944 but the age of the cars put me off from the possible corrosion issues
I've always thought there was a similarity between the 944 lines and the Cayman. Maybe you don't agree but I think so. The Cayman I bought was sold to the PO by Williams Crawford in Plymouth and has done less than 2000 miles since they did a major engine overhaul... seals, bearings, clutch and Dual mass flywheel. So I've been as careful as I can... Guards Red... Black wheels. Red Calipers Registration EIB CAY. I've moved to near Tewkesbury if any of you are around JCN 9 on M5
The car was originally owned by Porsche Reading so has a number of desirable extras like colour coded tunnel Drives like a dream!

Sounds like a nice example, modern 944 apart from missing a couple of seats.

Alright Eddie. Good to see you're still around. I was a bit disappointed you didn't sell that old banger to me :)

Cheers,

Jim

Sorry Jim, a few people asked me over the years to give them first shout.... including the PO! Always have a concern about selling too close to home... Just sold my MGC and same issues despite me knowing it was a good car. Managed to buy the Cayman and put thousands in my pocket!!! don't expect that to happen with a 12 year old.
Do you still have the Xmas bar lunch... the New Inn Heckfield? Wonder how many of the ex titanic member would muster now?
Eddie

Hi Eddie, welcome back.

I remember Rich Salmons picked up a rusty Silver Rose from somewhere up north but then quickly sold it to Mark K which was converted into a monster race car and sprayed blue. Not sure if it's the same one (or even if my memory is failing me [;)] )

Hi Paul, why did I know for certain you'd be somewhere in all of this. I think we last talked at PCGB day at Chateau Impney possibly summer of 2012. My old car, whatever its called, shows the number plate designated to a Porsche 944. last taxed 2013. Not sure what that signifies.... Does that rule out that he put another plate on it?
Since I moved house Chateau Impney is only 10 miles away and I've attended all 3 hillclimbs . Prescott is about 4 miles away and Shelsly is about 23!
Eddie

Calling a car finished in Rose Silver Met a 'Silver Rose' (a misunderstanding of the German Silberrose) is the root of the confusion/Disagreement. Its an M758, irrespective of actual colour or silly made up name.
