Cayman S 06 smoke after oil overfilled and AOS change

Hi guys, purchased a 06 cayman S a couple of months back, noticed a day or so after I got it the car smoked badly on first start of the day until the car was up to temperature then I noticed the oil was showing over the max.
Had all the oil dropped and levelled back out, changed over the AOS as there was signs that was faulty.
Since then I’m assuming there’s oil all over the intake etc, my question is how long would you expect this to carry on if it’s burning the oil within the system.
Car seems to drive fine, had 2 specialists look over it and they say they can’t see any signs of anything else at fault other than it will take a long time to clear.

The problem is that the oil's not going to be burnt off the intake sysytem if it's been contaminated since only filtered air is passing through.

The only way to be sure that the system is clean is to dismantle it and check for the presence of oil. The MAF shouldn't have been affected but it would be just as well to check its condition at that time and if necessary clean or replace it.

Hi,

I also bought a 2006 Cayman S at the end of August with the same issue and oil dripping from the exhaust tail pipes, the car has done 67000 miles and had been sitting for a while, I changed the AOS and oil and filter but the smoke on start up remained, I have just completed the forth run out with the car since changing the AOS and the smoke on start up is now minimal, two 40 mile and two 20 mile runs,

I initially kept topping up the oil to the maximum, which would then reduce by 1 bar on the gauge, one of the USA engine builders on you tube recommend leaving it at 1 bar below the maximum, which I have done and the oil level has remained static, I am sure someone will correct me, but could it be that at maximum on the gauge on these cars is slightly to much oil,

You could be correct. I’ve had two 981’s and they seem to sit one bar down. I’m sure I also read somewhere that Porsche don’t recommend topping up until the level drops by a few bars (rather than just one).
