991.2 PCM - how to save changes to settings?

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I changed the tyre pressure settings to show psi instead of bar but when I start the car the next day it's back to showing the readings in bar.

Am I missing something? Should it not retain changes to the display settings? I also changed individual and it doesn't retain it, so I am guessing there is a button to press to save changes but I didn't see it mentioned in the manual.

It drives me mad. You have to save the settings to the vehicle. The settings on the drivers door, may be best to save to your individual settings aswell. It's the same with the heater and light settings, all have

Hi i presume your 991.2 has the memory package option. Settings can be found in Page 186, 187 in the owner's manual.
My 991.2 Carrera T does not have the memory package. Initially, it reverted to a 'default' setting after locking the car as exactly what you described. The Porsche Centre tech did a reprograming and now it remembers the last setting used. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring.

Thanks. I decided to press the key memory button every time I changed anything and this now does the trick. I had not spotted anything in the manual making this clear.

In PCM choose the "Settings" menu, then select "Locking" and check the box marked "Auto Memory".
Current settings will then be saved when the car is next locked. [:)]

Hi,

Feel free to share the spec and pics of your Carrera T! [:)]

I have the same query with my 991.2 Targa GTS.

I originally read in the User Manual about the Auto-Memory option under Vehicle->Settings->Locking but when I tried to set this on (as per Clive's reply), I found no such option on my PCM (despite having the memory package).

Since then, I have been doing as advised originally, i.e. saving settings via the memory keys whenever I want to adjust something. It still seemed odd, however, because on my previous 991.1 CAB, important settings were saved (e.g. temperature) based on what they were adjusted to on the last drive (unless overridden by one of the memory keys).

So, my subsequent query is this: does another setting somewhere need to be activated to bring up the 'Auto Memory' option under Locking, or do I have to do something else?

Just to add to my earlier post, I have now come across a tangible example where this is a real pain.

I am on holiday in France and came down via the Eurotunnel. Prior to getting on the shuttle, I changed the PCM unit settings over from miles to kilometres and we set off on our journey from Calais without incident.

We then stopped for a bite to eat and then set off again on our journey. Given we were on the motorway, I went to resume cruise control at 130kph and suddenly realised we seemed to be going a little quicker than previously, only to realise that I was actually trying to go 130mph! All because the PCM had set itself back to miles at the point I restarted the engine after our stop. A few quick adjustments and memory key presses later, the issue was resolved.

Luckily, therefore, no harm was done (or speeding ticket received), but I will remember this next time!
