Squeaky 992

Has anyone else had an annoying squeak coming from inside the cabin of their 992?
Our 992 C2S has done almost 3,000 miles to date and has been absolutely brilliant so far. However it has developed a really annoying squeak coming from the inside rear of the cabin.

I have not been able to identify exactly where it is coming from, it does not seam to be the rear seats or seat belts. The car went into our local Porsche Centre for the cup holder / software recall and I asked them to sort out the squeak whilst it was there but when it came back it was still just as bad. I have booked it back in to the Porsche Centre for the end of the month, so hopefully they will be able to resolve it this time.

Hi MD77,

I too had a really annoying squeak from the rear over my left shoulder. The Porche center tracked it down to the rear passenger seat side panel. It wasnt 'clipped in' completely, took them a few minutes to diagnose and fix.

Hope that helps,

Lee.

Hi Lee,

Many thanks for your reply which is very much appreciated. The squeak in my car is coming from over my left shoulder too, so I will mention your experience to our Porsche Centre when I take the car in on Tuesday next week. Fingers crossed that they will be able to sort it out this time.

Yours,

Martin

Hi Lee,

Thank you for your reply, my car was due to go in yesterday but the courtesy car wasn’t available so it’s going in today. I’ll share this with the technician. Hopefully we can get it resolved, the car has now done over 3,000 miles and has been absolutely brilliant apart from this.

Yours,

Martin

I’m delighted to say that our car came back after two days at our local Porsche Centre and all is well again, I am told that the headlining panel had not been fully clipped in place and that was causing the annoying noise. Whilst the car was there they carried out another recall which was related to the seat back rests which meant that both seats had to be removed and refitted. After driving a basic Boxster courtesy car for a couple of days, which was nice and handled well, although I am afraid I for one don’t like the rough sound that the car seems to make, I really appreciated just how good the 992 is, it is such an impressive car and certainly the best car that I have owned to date.

I am glad you got it fixed Martin. At least I have not experienced any rattling noise from mine, even over the rough roads of west coast of Ireland.

I still have a ticket open with Porsche in Germany for my remote communication problems which I am in constant dialogue with. I have found solutions around the problems, which they need now to remedy.

Thanks Huw it makes driving the a car much more enjoyable experience. I‘m not sure if I would even know if I had an issue with the remote communication set up on my car to be honest, as I am ashamed to say that I haven’t even tried to use it. Whenever I get some time to spend with the car, I just want to drive it. Perhaps you could show me how to use this when we meet up in October? In the meantime I hope that you soon get the problem with your 992 fixed.
