991.1 insurance

Hi all,

So I have upgraded from my 997.2 C4S to 991.1 C4S. I will be asking my current insurer (Adrian Flux) re insurance but wondered if anyone else had a good contact for 991 insurance. My current policy is a limited (5k) classic/sports car policy. Any other good ones out there which would cover a modern 991?

Many thanks
Rhys

Rhys,

I can recommend ClassicLine Insurance - I've been with them for a number of years and have been very pleased with their service, including one claim (I hit a cat!) which was handled very professionally with my choice of repairer. They offer Club and limited mileage discounts and the policy includes UK & EU breakdown assistance as well as track day cover.

I'm using a multi-car policy with Admiral for my 991.2 GTS and it was very good value (even without using multi-car they were very competitive). Classic Line were much more expensive than Admiral for me (obviously that will vary based on area and any other number of factors) but I have had a large claim with Admiral before (£14K gearbox after going over a rock in an E92 M3) and they were very good with that.

I find Manning UK very good and extremely efficient. They insured my Panamera 4 and they now insure my Carrera T. I’m covered for up to 18k miles per year.

It's funny how it works out for different people. I tried them and they were more than triple the price that I got and double what Classic Line quoted. I guess that's why there's no shortcut and you just have to get quotes from all of the usual suspects.

Just called classic line after a recent mishap on the dolomites tour thanks to an Italian Vw golf driver....
they quoted a very reasonable £550 in spite of the recent fault claim
so I’ll prob renew with them

Yup, definitely pays to shop around. I think Manning UK give me a fair price bearing in mind that my cover is for up to 18k miles per year and I’ve modified my car (suspension, exhaust system and remap to 480bhp). [:)]

I've read about your car and it sounds a lot of fun. Do you feel that the brakes are coping fine with the extra power or is an upgrade coming for that as well?

I don’t (currently) track the car or use the autobahn, so for regular road use, I think they’ll be fine for now.

I have used the NFU for the last couple of years for my 991 GTS. They are very reasonable and cover the cost of a new car if the car is less than two years old. The only down side is it limits the number of shotgun cartridges you can carry and the cattle in any trailer I am towing are not covered!

Classicline for me, they and other specialists have a package that’s aimed at Porsche owners who want agreed value, euro breakdown, track day cover, legal cover, you choose where to go for repair, you don’t have to put up with non-Porsche OE parts. Taking all that into account they come out best value for me, but if you don’t want those things a mainstream insurer will probably be cheaper, but it’s usually not a like for like product.

I've also been very pleased with the customer service I've received from NFU Mutual. I like the fact that they operate from a small local office (yes, on a farm!) that I can visit and talk to real people! They may not be the cheapest but they work hard to get a policy that works for me according to specific circumstances.

Another vote for NFU Mutual. I pay £430 per annum for my 2016 991.2 Carrera C2S. Unlike most insurers the cost actually comes down usually each year, as you get a loyalty dividend.
