CDR23 and MOST query

My 2003 3.6 C2 Tip Coupe has the Porsche Sound option ie 6 speakers, a CDR23 head unit and an amp in the front all running off the MOST lead. I want to go with a double din conversion which seems easy enough to do in itself but I'm a bit confused about which way to go as after much talking on the phone to various ICE companies and internet searches there seems to be two schools of thought basically 1) Fit a MOST adapter and all will be well but you'll lose the front to rear fade on the speakers or 2) MOST adapters don't give a good sound and the only thing to do is replace the head and the amp and rewire (obviously at far more expense than option 1)
If anyone else has any experience of this issue I'd welcome the input. Thanks
