718 first service cost

Ask for estimates some respect the standard service tariff*, others don't. Check the (extra) prices charged for oil (mine will either match or let me supply the oil - from Opie with PCGB discount) and whether extra to standard service items are really necessary.

* see Porsche site for recommended servicing costs

Hi all,

My 718 Cayman is due it's first service and I was wondering whether it's a fixed price service at all OPC's or if different centres charge different prices. Has anyone had any experience of ringing around the different centres to get the best price?

Thanks,
Richard.

Richard,

Although the majority of Centres offer the same fixed price servicing, some like those in the Porsche Retail Group (Guilford, Hatfield, Mayfair, Reading and West London) have their own (more expensive.!) pricing structure.

You can find the Participating Centres and approved fixed prices for your 718/982 Cayman here:

https://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/porscheservice/serviceandorgininalparts/servicepricing/cayman/

As Ralph suggests it's probably best to phone around for a price.

Jeff

The new pricing structure includes everything at each service, I don't think there are any extras any more except for maybe air-con service.

I doubt you'll beat the fixed price servicing cost on Porsche's website, so I'd go to the OPC of your choice that supports it.

Thank you Jeff.

Re. my 981 Cayman S ... the 6 year service at participating centres is £775, my local (Aberdeen) OPC is not on the list and recently quoted me ~ £1,000 for same. Perth OPC is on the list and is owned by the same company as Aberdeen ... time for a challenge / trip down the road then !

Check whether it includes brake fluid change, on my 6 year quote that is shown after 6 year service sub-total as

"A 03510061

Additional maintenance every 2 years

Brake fluid change 0.6 hours"

Thanks everyone for your help. I've contacted my local PC and I'm booked in on the 15th July. They're going to be doing the service for £560 so I'm pleased with that!!

Yes, that's very odd Andrew. As you say, Perth is on the list but Aberdeen isn't, so it must be down to the individual Centre's principal as to whether or not they participate. In addition to the PRG I mentioned (one of which is the Centre I use), Jardine's (Lancaster's) Centres at Cambridge, Colchester and East London are also missing from the list.

How do Aberdeen justify the huge price difference? Are labour rates so much higher in that locality or is it just that they know they can get away with it?

As Dave has pointed out, at least the fixed price servicing now includes everything - plugs, polybelt, air cleaner, brake fluid change, as appropriate.

Perth have confirmed that this is included in the listed price.

.....

Am awaiting Aberdeen`s reply to my request for their schedule and price list. Previous quote was verbal whilst running through their on screen database.

I paid £550 including brake fluid for first service on my 718 last July at Tonbridge Porsche Centre. Price may have increased since then?

Ian,

I note that the recommended price for the first service is now £625, including the brake fluid change. Quite a substantial price hike..!

Jeff

As is usual with Aberdeen OPC ... no reply to my email enquiry so I discussed yesterday during a visit for the MoT.

Price was confirmed at ~ £1,000 with no reason given as to why the `overs` re. the Fixed system`s £775. I was advised that the Service Manager may (and has before) consider `price matching` ... to be continued when I get hold of him.

Aberdeen OPC Service Manager confirmed that they would `price match` to the Fixed Price system. He admitted no knowledge of why they do not operate the system ?

Appears to be a `don`t ask - don`t get` philosophy ? !
