Hi everyone,

Our DOTM for July is an overnight visit to Weymouth Porsches on the Prom on Friday evening 19th July, followed on Saturday 20th by a scenic drive around Dorset.

The "Weypop" event runs from 6pm to 10pm, and last year, with only 3 years on the calendar, R26 attracted 400 Porsches.

We will leave on the Friday morning with lunch en route, then check-in at a hotel of your choice. There are many hotels of all sorts in the area. I have chosen the Duchess of Cornwall in Dorchester, 7 miles from Weymouth, where there are currently several double rooms available. Parking is on street in front of the hotel, and monitored by security cameras.

At the event, we can just enjoy the atmosphere with other Porsche owners and the general public, while partaking in a fish and chips supper and some local fayre and other refreshments available at numerous outlets (discounts are offered at some - see the R26 Events page).

On the Saturday, we will meet to take a scenic drive around the Dorset Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty, to include the spectacular Jurassic Coast Road between Weymouth and Bridport, with sweeping bends and stunning views. R26 members have kindly provided suggestions for a pub lunch and perhaps a visit to a local attraction, following which we will take a leisurely drive home.

As ever, if you are interested in this event, please indicate by replying to this post. Then please send me an email to mark.grimwood1@btinternet.com where in due course we can discuss more details.

Happy days!
Mark

Hi Mark.
Marian and I will be up for this, and Eddie and Marilyn also . They have booked two rooms in 'The Poachers Inn' in Piddletrenthide which is
7 miles north of Dorchester.

That’s great news Andy and Marian, Eddie and Marilyn. I am looking forward to the event and seeing you there, although in due course I will be organising a convoy for those that wish to join.

Cheers.

I’ve booked now... let’s have a few more! I recommend not delaying... hotels are getting booked up!
Cheers.

Mark,

We would love to attend, but cannot make it unfortunately. Many thanks for arranging, it is appreciated.

Kind regards

Neil

Hi Mark,
unfortunately another event has intervened, so we are going to have to cancel. A pity, I was hoping to use the run as my first trip since having a complete engine and transmission
re-build.
Thank you for the organisation.

B/W, Ray

Was planning on going down for the weekend and staying with friends and are members of R26.
However its my sons 3rd birthday party so no escape for me.

Those going, there is also an event on the Sunday 21st - Classics at the Castle (Sherborne) Porsche is the featured marque. This is suppose to be a great event, may be worth a detour on way home id staying the week end.

My next events are - Goodwood (sat) and Silverstone Classic with PEC test drive of 992.

Hi All

Don't know how you all stand with regards to running down together?
I know Mark is away this weekend so no doubt he will put his thoughts re an agenda for Friday on here later.

Hi WeyPoppers,

I hope you are all ready for Friday’s trip down to Weymouth.

If you want to join a convoy, and a pub lunch together, here is my suggested route and timetable. It allows for joiners at Buckingham, and at the A43/M40 Moto Cherwell Valley service area.

Start at my house in Aspley Guise MK17 8HE at 10.15am;
Buckingham Garden Centre, Tingewick MK18 4AE 10.55;
Moto Cherwell Valley Services, Bicester OX27 7RD 11.15;
The Crown Inn, Kings Somborne SO20 6PW 12.30;
Lunch 12.30 - 1.30/1.45;
Piddletentrithe hotel(s) 3.00/3.15;
Dorchester hotel(s) 3.30.

This should allow time for a leisurely journey, with a check-in in time for a cuppa and a freshen up.

It’s only half an hour or so to Weymouth from Piddletentrithe (less from Dorchester), so it will be a 5.15 start for arrival at Weymouth to be parking around 6pm for the event.

I suggest a fish ‘n’ chips supper there.

I haven't worked out the Saturday drive yet. Regrettably Linda and I have to leave in the morning for a funeral back in MK, but Anthony and Maria have kindly agreed to lead the drive. I will be catching up with Anthony in the next few days to discuss a route.

We actually have 7 cars going, which is a great turnout. In addition to those names in Andy’s post (thanks Andy) we have Tony and Rachel, plus Mike and Sue. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.

Cheers.
Mark

Hi Mark

Regrettably Pam & I are not going to be able to make this event, due to a work commitment.

Hope to see you all soon.

Regards
Les
