Time to step aside and set the Yorkshire CoG free

Last year Carol and I decided that after nine years at the helm of R7 it was time for a change, especially as our work lives had got so busy. In October we formed the Yorkshire Coordinators Group (CoG) to take on the running of the Region. It has now got to the point that the members of the CoG are now fully in control of all aspects of the Region and doing an excellent job. Therefore it is time that we formally stepped down as Regional Organisers and let them be properly recognised as looking after the Region.

The last nine and half years have been an absolute blast and we have thoroughly enjoyed looking after the Region and getting to know everyone, the organisers role is an excellent way to do this. There have been so many highlights, from our 2014 trip to Germany to the revival of the WOTYs which have been so much fun. Basically anything that involved driving our cars and spending time laughing about it in a bar afterwards. It is the cars that bring us together, but the friendships and shared experiences that keep us together.

We are really proud of Yorkshire and the amazing people within the Region with whom we have had such an amazing time. Unsurprisingly, we think it is the best Region in the country and that is down to all the members who come along to the events and make them so much fun and so successful.
There are so many people that we have to thank who have helped us along the way, too many to name without missing some out. So thank you to everyone has ever helped out at an event, put together an event of your own or simply come along and made a day so successful. We couldn’t have done it without you.

We also have to say a massive thank you to the specialists that have supported the Region so much in that time. Without Strasse our Lotherton Hall event just wouldn’t be the same, their support since the inception of the event 25 years ago has been unstinting. John Hawkins from Specialist Cars of Malton has pretty much said yes to everything we have asked. Along side these RPM Specialist Cars and Full Throttle Classics have hosted events for us. PC Leeds who come along to our Club Nights each month host one of our Club nights each year.

Finally we have to say thank you to everyone in the Club office, the level of support has grown over the last few years such that we are able to now to do things that we would never have considered in the past. These guys work so hard and always with a smile. Chris Seaward has done an amazing job bring the Club forward over the last five years, and we wish him all the best in his new role.

As the Region moves forward with a new team at the helm, we know that there are exciting times ahead and we look forward to being to be able to simply enjoy them.

Well done Mark and Carol - you’ve obviously done a great job over the past years too.
The enjoyment of seeing the pleasure of members getting the best out of their Porsches is at the heart of the Club...
See you again soon [8D]

Thanks Carole & Mark. You two have worked so hard to get the region to where it is today. I am sure that everyone appreciates eveything you two have done and we look forward to continuing to see you at future events.

Mark & Carol,
I have only been a member 3 years but have been fortunate to attend quite a few R7 events which I have enjoyed very much, thank you very much for your time ( considerable) and input in putting these events on. I hope you enjoy your retirement! Look forward to seeing you @ future events.

You have both been amazing Mark and Carol. Your hard work and enthusiasm have cemented so many wonderful memories with the most lovely group of people. Enjoy being normal members. I'm pretty sure of many happy times ahead. Albeit with a lot less stress!
Thanks for the hard work.
Mike and Lisa.

Mark and Carol,
Many thanks for the brilliant way you have led the club in Yorkshire. I can't quite believe how much it has grown and developed in recent years under your stewardship. Time for a very well deserved rest so you can just enjoy the Porsche club experience!
