I finally bought one

I've wanted a 356 for some time. Finally picked one up at the Historics auction this weekend. It has an "interesting" and quite extensive history - I'm hoping some of the former owners are on here, as I'd like to know more about it. It was originally silver, but I rather like the (recently changed) new colour. It seems to run quite well - it's supposed to have a 120hp race engine based on a 912 block, but I've yet to verify that. Almost none of the electrics work, though, so I can't drive it yet. Hopefully I'll get the electrical gremlins exorcised reasonably quickly and be able to enjoy it over the summer.

    Looks lovely.
you are more likely to get information in the car by posting on DDK website under the 356 section.

Looks in great condition, congratulations.  If you have the electrics working in time bring it along to the Tour of the Midlands on 11th August, should be a great day out.  Only 356s can enter.  Details on the PCGB website.  Hope to see it then if not before.
    best wishes

Gemini blue - technically a 70s colour, so period-incorrect, but then it's got a 912 motor, 6" Fuchs and aftermarket seats, so it's not going to win any concours.

There is nothing wrong with a 912 motor, they were the ultimate incarnation of the 356 motor.
I personally prefer painted steel wheels in 4 1/2”. I would get it running well and use it. Go to as many 356 events and tap into the years of knowelge available and speciailists recommendations before doing anything major.

Always use a specialist with experience with 356s. I have seen cars restored by run of the mill garages and their mistakes are not cheeply rectified.
