Tyre pressure indicator.

Thank you for your replies so far. Very helpful. I have another question. Is it possible to have the tyre pressure indicator retro fitted? I don’t want to do it until I need new tyres. I bugs me not being able to check at will. I had it on my boxster. The 911 doesn’t have it.

I think your only realistic option is to go with one of the after market systems (Tyre Pilot or similar). To fit the Porsche system you would need 4 valves at circa £50 each plus the cost of fitting at about £15 per wheel, the control module (price unknown but probably £100) and then you have to get a specialist to code it in. So it would be very expensive to do.

There was an article in Porsche Post by the 928 Register Secretary a few years ago on an aftermarket system, you might be able to find something if you Google it.

Thank you Terry. The cost isn’t a concern. Don’t mean that to sound clever. I can’t bare any wires or extra bits in the car that shouldn’t be there. Drives me mad! ??. I’ll call tonbridge and get a price. If it’s crazy I’ll get a digital pressure gauge. I’ll be driving this thing around Europe for the summer until October. Lakes and mountains!

I asked my OPC about retro-fitting TPMS a while back and they told me it wasn't feasible - loads of wiring needed so seats out, carpets up, dash taken apart... not cost effective. aftermarket is an option but not if under warranty.

Thank you. Tyre pressure gauge is the answer. Can’t have stuff that doesn’t belong hanging around.

I’m interested in retrofitting TMPS also (991.1 2013). Bear in mind that on US models, at least, it was standard equipment in 2013 and subsequently available in in UK 2014 (as standard?). I enquired with Porsche GB and was advised that although probably ‘technically’ possible that an OPC would be reluctant to try it as was non standard, outcome as not guaranteed and warranty would be affected. If I knew of a reputable independent that would undertake it I’d be interested in talking through it with them and give it a go. I‘d also be interested in a PCM 4 retrofit!
