Whitby fish & chips

Scarborough Council kindly dropped me an email on Tuesday telling me they have had to cancel our parking reservation request this year due to the building work in Whitby.

Apparently the locals are revolting due to the limited amount of parking and disruption caused due to it.

After a bit of brain storming and research I think I have a great alternative but would appreciate your feedback and an idea of numbers if attending.

I have contacted the Stables Restaurant, Crossbutts, Whitby regarding hosting R3. The Stables are the guys who Porsche Cars use each year for their annual fish & chip run.

They have offered us safe free parking and private dining, for up to 80 members.

To avoid the hassle of pre-booking different food & table plans they have suggested a fish & chip buffet, which will include fish bites, chips, mushy peas, curry sauce, etc. for ÂŁ12.95 per person

The location of the restaurant is across the road from the park & ride for those who wish to take advantage and use this service and not have to worry about parking their pride & joy in town, more details of the location of the restaurant and park & ride can be found here.

Please note you will be required to pre-pay for your meal prior to 20th May.

If you would like to join in the fun please add to this thread to give me an idea of numbers ASAP.

More details to follow shortly regarding route and meeting point in a booking form.

Jacquie, Aby and others have “sold” this so well, how could we refuse?

Gordon & Chris.

Hi

Just wondering if the buffet has any alternates to fish? Know it's a fish and chip restaurant but I don't eat fish so if not, we'll join the run but eat elsewhere

I will speak with them today to see what they can offer as alternative for those who do not like fish and update the forum asap.

A quick update for those who don’t like the idea of a fish dinner on our fish & chip run, the guys at The Stables have offered breaded chicken as an alternative, I hope this works for any other non fish lovers like me. Failing that it's only a short trip from the park & ride into Whitby, where the worlds your oyster.

Bee and I will be up for this!

(I've only told her the fish & chips part, not the spirited drive to and from....[;)])

. . . or chicken goujon

Thanks for this Greg, didn't mean to cause a problem by asking for alternative to fish on what is clearly advertised as a fish and chip run but I don't eat fish. Andy and I would be happy to join your Whitby Fish, Chip and Breaded Chicken run
