Roof Bars on 958

Just started looking to replace our 957 4.8S and I am amazed at how few 958 for sale are specified with the roof rails, admittedly our 957 doesn't have them, but the built in tracks on the roof give a very secure mounting for the Porsche Rook rack, real shame they dropped this feature, best of both worlds. Trying to find a 958 in the spec I want is a real challenge, not many seem to have air suspension and getting both this and roof rails is very difficult, so I was wondering if aftermarket racks for cars without the roof rails are any good, so I can widen my search a bit.

To this end can any 958 owners without the roof rails share any experience of using a Thule or any other aftermarket roof-rack, (got to have one for the roof box for the skis) do they fit well, do they mark the roof, any info appreciated.

Hi. Just responded to someone else about this so it might be searchable on the forum but I have an 05 Cayenne S and it has the inset mounts for a rack or bars. I think they all have that now. No need for rails. Go for the Wispa bars. They go across the roof one side to the other and have an aerofoil shape so they are really quiet. You can fit a roof box and also ski racks to them with no 4isj of damage to the roof itself. I have used them many times and they are brilliant. With skis on we did the Autobahns at ove 140mph and there was minimal noise and as long as its all tightened up no issue. Can't praise them enough and they actually look quite good too.

Hi
I'm pretty sure you are mistaken on the 958 its either the raised rails or nothing, the channels / slots in the roof are no more.
