Air suspension on 958 - worth it ?

My search continues for a nice c.£25k 958 (narrowly missed out on a beaut last week!). Initially Air suspension was a muist have o my list, but some people are saying that they didn't bother as tthe improvement was negligible, and it's more to go wrong. Would appreciate any thoughts !

Its a Cayenne air suspension is a must it is designed to go off-road
if you want springs get a Macan.
PS
That's my bias opinion obviously!

I have steel on my 63 plate 3.0D with 53K which I bought in Jan for around your budget and I love it. I don't intend to go offroading but do enjoy, daily, the high spec two tone full leather interior, sports steering wheel, sports exhaust, comfort settings, 21 inch wheels etc which I may not have got for my budget with a car with air suspension.

So my biased opinion is to get a car within your budget that has the lowest mileage and options that you appreciate and use daily rather than pay for options that you may rarely use.

Thanks - I'm sure the ride is better on the road with, but unticking air will just widen my search options

I've got air on a 4.8S 957 model, wouldn't be without it, I think it rides much better than steel esp with bigger diameter wheels (20 plus) and ability to lower for loading esp roof box very handy and I'm 6ft 5. Our's has been pretty trouble free, 1 sensor failed in 50K and 4 and half years.
On test drives I've done when looking to replace the 957 the 958 on steel seems a bit better than 957 on steel was, but air still seems better to me.

I have 957 on Air and love it. 124k miles now and no problems so far (frantically searching for wood!), so looking for Air on replacement.

Air Suspension and PASM are very worthwhile options on all generation Cayennes, and the Macan.

Having recently had experience of a potential expensive fault i wanted to share.
I have a 957 turbo with air and pdcc.
I was pulling off from traffic lights and turning I got warning chassis system. I looked on line and thought it was possibly a valve about £40 to fox myself. there was a knocking under the car so I inspected it and the pdcc antiroll bar had snapped.

I took it to a local specialist who quoted me £2500 to replace the bar. Later i get a call to say it needs a pump (apparently leaking) pipes (corroded) another £1000 plus fitting.
So getting on towards £4k

I managed to get a second hand bar from a breakers in the end and got the garage where i bough my car from to repair it.
No pump replacement no pipes needed. All in with the part it cost £710 so a fraction of the specialist garage and the warranty company covered it as opposed to me finding £3k to fix my car, no pump or pipes either !!!!

The points i am making are:
Air suspension parts are expensive so if it goes wrong expect a big bill.
Be careful where you take your car for repairs
Hunt around for second hand parts to keep costs down

It is worth getting a second opinion when confronted with possible large bills, these are complicated vehicles plus having a warranty helps I know from personal experience.
