Voltage regulator?

Just wondering if anyone could tell me the correct voltage output from the alternator on a 2008 Carrera 4S.
i have a suspicion that my voltage regulator is faulty, but would like confirmation before ordering a new part.
When I start my car and test the voltage at the battery, I am getting 15.3 volts !
i always thought it should be between 13.5 and 14.5v
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The reason for checking is my battery is showing low voltage, i‘m wondering if the overcharging has damaged the battery ?

I am not sure about 997s but I have noticed on 981s and 991s that the voltage will often show in the high 14s and I have seen over 15 as well. As far as I am aware this is normal and doesn't appear to have any adverse effect on the battery but these later cars have different batteries.

Thanks for the info.
If any 997 owners could confirm what their alternators are producing it would put my mind at ease.
Also would an old battery cause the alternator to increase its output or should it be restricted to 14.5 max ?

Mine 15.3 ??, slightly worried
I did change mine just after my last post, it was a cheap part and an easy DIY fit.
The brushes on the old part were very worn.
Voltage output is now bang on spec??

Unit replace, voltage now bang on at 14.3v. Noticed a bit of a wobble on the ac clutch will keep an eye on it. Also while I was doing the job I found an old rodent nest, under the alternator! The little gits had used some of the engine bay line. Car must have sat around for a long time at some point.

Must be a common theme ! , I found a pile of old acorn shells under mine, cheeky little f%$*&s.
They had already had a meal out of the rubber boot that goes on the MAF sensor.
My garage is now like a scene from Home Alone - traps everywhere ;-)
