R3 visit to Stuttgart 11-14th October 2019

As promised last year I have been looking at the possibility of another long weekend in Stuttgart.

Deb & I have booked to fly out from Edinburgh with Easyjet on Friday 11th October on the 13.05 flight & return on Monday 14th at 16.00. Flights are available from elsewhere, but sadly not Newcastle.

As we will be relying on public transport, be prepared for some walking and waiting. The services in Germany are reliable and frequent, so normally no more than a twenty minute wait.

On arrival, it's a very short walk to catch the train to the middle of Stuttgart and our chosen hotel is roughly a ten minute walk from the station. Feel free to book your own hotel depending on your own preference.

I have pre-booked our hotel on a room only basis at present. There are plenty of places to grab food nearby and it's a very easy 15 minute leisurely walk to the more lively inner city centre bars and restaurants.

Depending on the take up I would be happy to try to pre-book a restaurant nearby for us all to eat in if possible, on either the Saturday or Sunday evening.

We only have 13 spaces for our Monday morning factory tour so this unfortunately will be first come first served, but I must stress those who have current R3 membership will be given priority. However, numbers are not restricted should anyone just want to travel with us or meet up in Stuttgart to enjoy the fantastic Porsche & Mercedes museums, or to just check out what the city has to offer. I can highly recommend the open top hop on/off bus and sight seeing tour.

If you are interested and would like more info please drop me an email at R3@porscheclubgb.com

As always you will be responsible to book & pay for your own flights so don't delay in confirming your space if you would like to join us on yet another R3 European adventure.

Please note if you wish to guarantee your place on our R3 factory tour, you must contact me first to confirm a space is still available to avoid disappointment before booking your flights.

13 sounds like the perfect number Greg could we take the odd 3 places if there is still room for Me, Jackie and Abigail?

Unfortunately due to a cancelation we have two spaces left for the factory tour, let me know if anymore interest.

Space now taken......

Me and Angela are regular visitors to Stuttgart (will be in Greece this Oct)

She can only take so much car stuff so explored other places ! In case you are looking for places to visit , our favourite is Stuttgart zoo/ botanic garden. Easy to get to on public transport , and a great day out.

We have two spaces now available for our R3 2019 factory tour, please let me know ASAP if you are interested.

Flights & hotel are still available, drop me a line if any further interest.

Flight times on the Friday are 13.05. Bag drop opens at 11.00am so Deb & I are planning on leaving around 8.00am with the intention of stopping for breakfast somewhere on the route. If anyone else would like to join us for the drive up let us know.

Hi Greg, if you are planning on a jaunt up the A68 there is a brilliant little cafe in Melrose right by the Abbey, street parking or an adjacent car park:

We would be interested in going this way or an alternative route.

All, to help with train planning and ticket buying there is an App for iPhones and Android's call DB Navigator.

It covers the S-Bahn (and other transport systems) that we use to get from the airport and to the Porsche Museum and Factory and Mercedes Museum. You will need to register to buy tickets on the App and you can use various payment methods including Credit Card.

Hope this helps - Philip

Fellow Stuttgart Tourists, a group of us are travelling up the A68 to Edinburgh tomorrow morning (Friday 11 Oct). For those who wish to join us we are meeting at the Errington Coffee House NE45 5QB (what was the Errington Arms PH on the A68 round about intersection with the military road) for an 8am departure (its not open for coffee at this time). We will stop for breakfast at approx. 9am in Earlston at the Rhymers Tower Coffee Shop TD4 6DL (on the left as you enter Earlston at the garage).

We intent to leave promptly from Errington at 8am, but feel free if you are not there to catch us up at Earlston.

Looking forward to a fantastic sunny long weekend in Stuttgart - Philip

Brilliant weekend in Stuttgart, museums, factory tour, food and the weather all perfect along with all our friends.

Thanks to every one who joined us in Stuttgart to make a memorable weekend.

Philip & Jacquie.

Great weekend. Like any R3 trip, we set off as a group of car club members, we returned as a group of friends.

Fantastic weather, epic cars, good food, but as always the company made it. Thanks to all those who came along.

Excellent weekend! Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Thanks for all the organisation. We don’t know how lucky we are with our super organisers! Great to have such good company too.

Gordon and Chris.

A few pictures from our memorable 2019 R3 Porsche Museum visit, where great fun was had by all. We will of course be adding even more images to our Regional page very soon, so keep an eye out for them especially if you missed this year's trip.

Although so many R3 events are now often imitated, we are immensley proud to say most will never be equalled, so why not experience the fun first hand and join us at an event soon.
