I was lucky enough to visit the Geneva Salon yesterday and had browse on the (rather sparse) Porsche stand - no halo GT’s, all about the 992 cabriolet instead. Find attached some in the flesh shots of the 718 T.

I am there tomorrow. In and out on the same day as I did last year. Do you think the stand is sparse to make space for something new to be launched!

Have a safe trip - I have no idea why the stand seemed plain, but it’s like something is missing? Check out the Polestar 2, the new Morgan and the Russian Royce!

With the exception of Geneva I think attendances at the major shows are declining. Sign of the times perhaps with people falling out of love with the car - it's just another consumer item (motorised fridge??) for many - as we move rapidly into the self-driving, car-sharing electric car age. Sadly, Petrol-heads are becoming a dying breed.

Who knows why the Porsche stand is rather sparse but I doubt there'll be another announcement at the show. Although the rumour was that there would be some sort of press release about the 718 GT4/Spyder at the show, that now seems unlikely, and we're expecting to hear something in May with the car(s) being shown in the flesh at the Goodwood FOS in July.

I think petrol heads are growning, every event is fully booked these days. where before car events were empty and only for the hard core.

More cars at Porsche on the prom than ever, and you cannot get on a PCGB track day, where in the past you could turn up and get on.

the 2019 Motor show had nothing new to launch !! every new had already been launched before in most brands, so it's just a show and a dull on in 2019 it seems.

My comments were a bit tongue-in-cheek D but hopefully you're right.

Though I'm wondering what age group these enthusiasts fall into, especially since most Members at the R10 and R24 meetings I attend seem to be around retirement age? We need to get more younger people engaged, and it's rather depressing to hear that many millenials aren't even bothering to learn to drive let alone displaying an enthusiastic interest in personal transport.

The improved take-up on PCGB track days is very encouraging, but I think that's due in part to the lack of opportunities to drive the cars at anything close to their potential on our ever more speed restricted and congested roads. Plus, online booking now makes the application process much simpler.

I agree PCGB members are retirement age, I went to my local meet and was the youngest there at 50 :) as my other half is 10 years younger she stated that's the one and only meet she will goto.

was a shock but great when you retire to have a group of like minded people as retirement can be dull.

But goto the Sunday scrambles and you get a big range of cars and ages.

I don't think we have long for us Petrol heads so, one has to make the most of it NOW imo.

I think you are spot on. Ford, Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo all had major stands at Geneva 2018. All absent this year.
