911 soft top supplier

Thanks Andy

I spoke with them earlier today and they seemed pleasant enough. Quoted circa £1200 inc VAT which is about what I expected.

They are a couple of hours away and would need the car for 2 days so not ideal.

I was hoping for someone a bit nearer.

Cheers

Paul

There is also the Car Hood Wharehouse - who are fairly well known, but don't know where they are based.

Out of interest, with these companies, do they fit OE hoods (i.e. identical to those fitted by Porsche) or are they an after-market replica ? Just thinking for 'warranty' purposes.

Hi Oliver

I guess they will fit whatever you want but the price I was quoted I imagine was for an aftermarket hood. Suspect OEM would be significantly more than £1200.

I used to have a 996 Cabriolet and to be honest the quality of the black hood fabric was pretty dam poor from new. It looked cheap and shabby and I was always pleased when I could get the hood down so no one could see it. I used to clean it and preserve it too.

At the same time my wife had a BMW Z3 and then a Z4 and the quality of those hoods were far superiors in look and feel. The black colour was much deeper too.

I would not worry about OEM quality because I believe in this case its a myth. Get the best quality material you can afford and believe me there are some pretty poor ones out there.

As the old saying goes - you get what you pay for.
