This is a very special Drive of the Month, but you will need an early night the day before if you want to join in!

Sunrise on 9th June is at 4.44am, and we will be meeting in North London to watch it happen*, and take advantage of the dawn light and quiet London streets as we pass by or along around 50 famous London landmarks. If you can think of a famous central London landmark, the chances are that we will pass by it or along it as we follow a route similar to that taken by one of the open-topped tourist buses for a treat that you will not forget.

Bring your cameras and video devices so you can capture unusual images of dawn-lit iconic buildings and traffic-free streets. If time permits, we will pull up for brief photo opportunities.

Before the event takes place, the route will have been driven so that you can know what to expect in terms of timing, and a route map will be provided. Afterwards, we will grab breakfast together before heading home (and a nap for those in need!).

*Alexandra Palace terraces offer great views of the sunrise, but to meet here might mean we would miss special lighting on some of the central London landmarks. So I am still considering the best starting point. Any suggestions will be considered before final details are published nearer the date of the event.

Please indicate on this thread whether you would like to attend, and/or offer any starting point suggestions, and also email mark.grimwood1@btinternet.com to confirm.

Happy motoring!
Mark

Arhhhh!

Gutted I shall miss this Mark. I shall be thinking of you all when I am cycling my 140 mile sportive over the Brecon Beacons.

Did look at doing this with the London crew but no space.

Will have to be next year

Hi Mark

Please put myself and Lindsey down for this one, a great way to celebrate our wedding anniversary!

L has suggested a start point of Regents Park, check out website justpark.com tells you where there are places to meet up, or Hyde Park.

Got it booked of now! any idea of the route?
Hi Andrew jb,

Glad you can make it after all. The route is still work in progress, but it’s to be based on some of the directions taken by the London Big Bus Company.

A few of us are doing a recce in early May, following which we will have a better idea.

Cheers.
Mark
