Tracker Fob Not Recognised

I use the standard tracker fobs on my 991.1 C2S and have noticed recently that the car doesn’t seem to recognise the fob immediately and often have had to stop up the road to get it out of my pocket and wave it around to activate it!! Does anyone know where the receiver is situated in the car please?

Sounds like the battery in the fob has gone. They usually go after a year or so, although I've had more life out of them. Use a thin screwdriver to pop the fob open. You can get a new battery from any local shop.

Cheers

Relatively new batteries in both and it does it with both. Anyone know the receiver location? Or is the tracker unit location a secret for obvious reasons?

Years ago I had a 5 series which, if you parked it near tv or mobile signal masts, could not be opened with the remote. BMW told me the immobiliser/alarm receiver was under the centre of the rear seat. Open the door using the key and with alarm screaming place the remote on the rear seat and press. Worked every time. Maybe I need similar advice....

I had to have my unit repalced in my previous car. Was done under warranty (the car was only a few months old). I believe the unit is under the driver's seat. Apparently was a real fiddle to get to because it was a manual. Something to do with getting access to it (?).

I'd agree with that. I had ongoing issues on my previous car (991.1 C2S cab) with this, dealt with under warranty. The unit is under the driver's seat and the problem was dealt with on the first two occasions by accessing the unit in order to disconnect the internal battery to carry out a reset. It behaved for a while and then started happening again and no amount of waving the fob around, next to the unit or otherwise, would resolve it properly. They finally agreed to change the unit, still under warranty.

Thanks guys. I have Porsche warranty so if it gets worse they can sort it....in the meantime maybe placing it in my back pocket may work!
