Hi everyone,
This is our first WOTY for several years, and you are invited to join us for up to four days in magnificent North Wales and on the pretty island of Anglesey.
It is my job to encourage you to come along for the whole weekend and join in all the arranged activities. But if you wish to make it a shorter break, and do some things on your own, that’s not a problem. We already have eight cars going - some for four days, some for three, and some for two.
Accommodation options are set out below. As time passes, those options will narrow, so I would ask that you consider joining the R10 party sooner rather than later, and book the accommodation you choose.
An outline of the weekend appears on the appropriate R10 events website page. Here it is in sketch:
Thursday 16th May: drive to Wales in convoy, making the most of the stunning North Wales scenery. Hotel check-in. Meet for dinner.
Friday 17th May: driving tour around the Snowdonia National Park, taking in the spectacular Llanberis Pass, Lake Bala, B4391 and the Evo Triangle. Could visit some tourist attractions. Meet for dinner.
Saturday 18th May: short visit to watch action at the PCGB track day at Anglesey circuit; it’s fully booked, but you may like to hang around for possible drives mid to late afternoon. Explore Anglesey beauty spots. Blue Flag beaches to walk on and other sights to see.
Whatever happens on other evenings, I hope you will join with all other R10 attendees to a fine dining experience tonight.
Sunday 19th May: Porsches on the Prom until 1.00pm; after lunch we make our way home.
Suggested accommodation options:
At present there is availability in Llandudno, Anglesey and elsewhere, to suit all budgets. Of the 8 cars so far booked, 4 were arranged independently of the WOTY.
If you wish to select a 4 star option with other R10 members, there is limited availability at:
Tre-Ysgawen Hall, Llangefni, Anglesey.
5 star AA tourist inn accommodation including breakfast at the Bull Hotel, Beaumaris, Anglesey has been booked by 4 cars. This carries the WOTY recommendation, because at the time of writing, several of their Townhouse rooms are available as follows:
5 x standard double rooms at £430 per room total (or Thurs £135, Fri £140, Sat £155)for the three nights including breakfast;
4 x large double rooms at £460 per room total (or Thurs £145, Fri £150, Sat £165) for the three nights including breakfast.
I was not able to reserve these rooms, so please act quickly to secure a booking and join us here. Mention ‘Mark’ and ’Porsche Club’, so they know we are one group.
Should you wish to make Llandudno your base for the weekend, you may like the option of the St George’s Hotel Llandudno, where PCGB Regional Director and 991 Register Secretary, Phil Graham has reserved a number of rooms at different rates (all of which is set out on the relevant event page of the 991 register).
There is also plenty of B&B accommodation in the area.
That completes the relevant information until nearer the time. If you wish to join in, or have questions, please let us know on this thread, and book your accommodation to avoid disappointment.
Happy motoring!
Mark
