Upgrading alloys to cup1 wheels

I'm thinking of swapping my current (weedy) 16" alloys to 17" Cup1's. I've seen some advertised as;
2 x wheel size 7 1/2J X 17 ET23 (suitable for tyres 205/50 17)
2 x wheel size 9J X 17 ET15 (suitable for tyres 255/40 17)
Questions;
1. would these have been the standard sized cup wheels when ordered new? I think the rears may've been 8J's?
2. Would any mods have to be made to accommodate the new wheels?
3. The seller is stating 7 1/2J but I thought they only came as 7J?
As ever, really grateful for advice

Those are no good for your car, they are for IB cars, you need 55mm offsets, they will still be 71/2" and 9" if replica, Genuine would have been 7" & 8"

Hi everyone looking for a fairly low mileage 924s non modified, can anyone help please call me on 07770671014. Thanks

I would stay away from those advertised Cup 1's with those offsets for sure. Will likely get wheel arch contact (particularly driven round bends hard - I know this!) and the fronts will rub on steering lock (I initially played with different bump stops to prevent any rubbing). Not a fan of using spacers either tbh.

Not sure what those Cup 1's were for originally with those offsets - certainly not 968's either. Could be Audi's of the time (e.g. RS2)

Different 964 model years went through stages of different original (as ordered) wheels - D90's, D92's (Cup 1), D93 (Cup 2). Originally 16", and only later half way through the 964 production years were 17" and Cups offered as options (never standard on narrow body).

Hope you find the original Cup 1's you're after - but you'll need a thick wallet!

WHEELS ARE FROM AN IB CAR! NO GOOD FOR A 964!

Last 964's had 17" cup 1 as standard, turbos had 9" not 8", Cup 2 and cup 3 weren't around when the 964 was out.

Thanks to all those who replied. Looks like the search goes on!
quick question (and I think I should already know this) but what's an IB car?
cheers
GH

Please remember that the use of spacers reduces the offset not increasing it.

So wheels with 40 offset with a 10mm spacer will appear as a 30mm offset.
