997 Turbo Remap

What is the experience and thoughts about a 1st Stage remap on the 997 Turbo? Is there any wide spread alarm or cons for the remap? Is it a no go or go go???

I would have thought experiences are rather dependant on the tuner. What is your general area of the country and have you any tuners in mind?
 
It's rare for a 997 Turbo to need more power. Are you sure the engine is working at its optimum level? [8|]

So :cough: the Turbo S power is unnecessary? ??

I have experience of the SharkWerks map which makes the 997.2 Turbo less laggy and more potent. It makes the accelerator response more akin to an NA car which even makes going slow more exciting as the car always feels ready to scarper at the merest thought.

I am am a big fan.
 
General reliability I was thinking about really. I know they say the cranks are good for 800bhp so 580 bhp should be fine. That said at 480bhp it's not a slouch but after regular driving it begins to feel "normal" so some more horses to make it gallop a bit more.
 
If you're driving the socks off it and constantly looking for more grunt, then a remap is certainly a possibility, but be prepared for additional modifications to brakes and suspension for optimum safety and performance.
I've had 3 x 997 turbos and the stock brakes on my 997.1 were definitely marginal on the limit even with the standard power output. :rolleyes:

Yes, I get that with the brakes, my standard car has always felt like it could do with being a bit better on the brakes front, heavy car (and verses the brakes and downshift I use on a ZX10R on track it feels slow to brake) - I had wondered about some green or yellow pads or something of that ilk.
 
tscaptain on here has extensive experience with replacement pads and compounds.

Others have juggled with replacement GT3 brake parts and roll bars etc. Guess it's all down to how far you want to go and how much you're prepared to spend!) [;)]

Nah... 530bhp in a 997.2 Turbo S. Edit: just saw 991.2 Turbo S. Oh my!!!!!

To Clive’s point about brakes, suspension, etc. I highly recommend the DSC V1 by TPCRacing to upgrade the PASM.

I also recommend the Sharkwerks exhaust as it sounds epic. Like the turbo should sound.

As for brakes, I’ve never been left wanting.

Google it. ?? I wrote about it in Total 911 magazine too and posted the article to another thread this weekend.

Hi JCX....was the Sharkwerks a remap as well? I thought it was just the exhaust system? Reason I ask is that after having read your article I am keen to further explore (once reunited). But I am not that interested in a remap....

And sounds like the diet is going well for you!
