Extended used car Warranty

Hello Guys & Girls. My 14 plate 918 S PDK is running out of its Used Warranty this June. Total mileage is 15000, I am doing 4000 summer miles per year, half of which is in Europe. I have been quoted £660 + £175 with assistance for 12months or £1190 +285 with assistance for 24 months. The 111 point check is £216. Question is should I extend the warranty or gamble?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Adrian.

It's a gamble, as you say, but I had a major problem with my Macan engine (see Macan forum thread in summer 2017) which was replaced under warranty, and was said to have cost Porsche £17k.
I now see the extended warranty as an extra cost on the service bill for peace of mind. Comes with breakdown cover for Europe.

I have just renewed the warranty on my 981 for a further two years at the prices you quoted. Well worth it for the peace of mind.

If you sell the car during the warranty period you can get back your money pro rata too.

As with any car its is always a gamble that a fault may materialise. However are Porsche cars so unreliable or more unreliable than any other car out there, I know that parts and service can be more expensive but so it could be said for other makes, is paying for a warranty a necessity really?
I have been running an Audi A4 as a daily car since new in 2007 and it runs today as good it did when new with nothing in the terms of major faults or repairs required, its coming up to 90,000 miles and is still on its original exhaust system (I know this is not a warranty item).
Your car is still a very relatively new car from 2014, barely 5 years old which is nothing in car age terms these days.
Insurances and warranties certainly bring peace of mind at a cost, and may be worthwhile if you are worried that it may develop an expensive fault, may be worth comparing warranties other than Porsche ones to see how they compare price-wise and what they cover?

I agree with earlier posts. It’s an insurance policy which you may not claim against, but that doesn’t make it bad value. Personally, I always take it. It provides peace of mind and we all know the cost of Porsche repairs. As it happens, I had £3.5k of work done on my 2013 Boxster S last year under warranty but I would routinely take the cover anyway.

I have kept the extended warranty going on my turbo. Without any major issues, other than a replacement high pressure fuel pump, I reckon I am still better off for having it. Broken spring, window issues, handbrake, air con condensers and so on all add up. In addition there is no limit to the claim with a Porsche extended warranty which can't be said for many, if any, third party warranties.

Mine is a 2015 with just 6000 miles, I bought it last summer from an Indy so no Porsche warranty. Just had a four year service and have put a two year extended warranty and assistance on it. Peace of mind really, and the Porsche Assistance is second to none if you take it to Europe. The 111 point check was half price with the service, but it showed both aircon condensers were slightly leaking (not through damage) and had to be replaced before I could buy the warranty - if it had had a warranty they would have been covered []. It'll be due another service in two years so I'll get that done and the 111 point check before this warranty expires so anything they find other than service items can be fixed under warranty.

I bought my 987.1 Boxster 2.7 last September and it came with the extended warranty as the then owner always renewed it during his ownership. To be honest I was reasured by the warranty and only this week it’s at OPC having two front springs, a new passenger door handle and cable along with a full wheel aliment all covered by the warrant. Even though the car is some 12 years old I’m considering extending as if I sell in the next two years I see it as a big plus for potential buyers.

I bought a 987.1 in the summer. 11 years old now. Got the 111 point check and warranty. Been in twice for a roof leak and they've changed £900 worth of seals (no it wasn't just a blocked drain plug) and must have been about 4 days labour investigating it so far so it's paid for itself. I took 2 years out. I fully intend to extend it in another 18 months if I still have the car as well. Can't reccomend it enough personally. If anything goes in the engine bay it's not like it's easy to access either for self daignosis and repair.
