non running 924

.Hi,
looking for help to get my 1982, 924 up and running. It had been garaged for more than 10yrs until I bought it last year.
It was Mot'd, serviced with new timing belt fitted etc. Unfortunately, it then sustained minor damage to the drivers door whilst at the MoT station,
it was taken home, put away and not used again.
I've given it electricity and all bits seem to work. Added fresh petrol and the engine turns and almost 'caught'.
The car is in Neath Abbey and is not mobile.
Is there a recommended mobile mechanic or similar, who may attempt to get it going, I've tried a few who don't turn up.
Any assistance will be gratefully accepted. It would be really lovely to have this car running and in use again.
Regards.
Graham.

I have been informed that D9 Autotech in South Cornelly are very good and reasonably priced. For full details take a look at page 137 in the Feb Porsche Post.

Contact Charlie Bacon 07850 100302 He is VW trained and has worked on my Porsches for years. Your problem is possibly the fuel injection, I had the problem on a 924 turbo recently. There is a very good company to overhaul the injection unit KMI 01462 682432. E-Mail me your address and I will send you their brochure trd@stoic.co.uk

A lot of your problems will stem from lack of use for 10 years giving stale petrol resulting in the fuel system being gummed up.

I note you have put fresh fuel in the car, did you drain out the old and have you checked that fresh fuel has reached the injectors. A common problem in these which have been standing unused for years is gumming up of the fuel distributor and injectors and sticking of the lift pin in the body of the fuel distributor which will prevent fuel flow.
