Cayman Build Specification Plus keys

Hi
My previous Porsches have come with spec labels in the handbook and on the underside of the hood but a 2007 Cayman I have just bought has neither. Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy. Are paint codes anywhere else on the car?

My other problem is that my 911 came with two keys and a red master key. Is that not included for the Cayman?
Being previously owned the Cayman only came with one key. Is there any reasonably priced way of obtaining another coded key.
Thanks
Gerry

Gerry,

If you contact your local Porsche Centre or Porsche HQ Reading I'm sure that they'll be able to help you with your queries about obtaining a handbook and the paint colour code for your Cayman if you give them your VIN. It's actually the Guarantee and Maintenance booklet which contains all the vehicle build details. I would expect the code to be on a plate either on the front bulkhead or maybe an A or B-pillar.

It's normal for the car to be supplied with 2 keys and probably you'll have to purchase a new one from a Porsche Centre - at great expense..!

Thanks for the info Jeff.

I will have a search around the pillars etc and ring the original Porsche Centre who supplied the Cayman

for any details they have.

I also live near Hitchin so I'm not too far away from you.

Cheers

Gerry,

I've just checked. On my 2009 987.2 the paint colour code is included on the black sticker on the driver's side B-pillar - the one with all the tyre pressure information on it.

I would think any Porsche Centre should be able to provide the information you're looking for, including any servicing/maintenance carried out by approved Centres.

I know Hitchin very well having worked there for many years in the past and still have a number of friends living there. Maybe we'll bump into one another some time.

Good luck with your search.

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Gerry,

Unfortunately the club no longer does a free build spec document giving the factory spec on delivery but if you want to get that information I think it is still available from Porsche Reading at a price.

The service record should be accessible by any OPC again from Reading and they should be able to provide a service record for all work carried out by their dealerships.

Key coding is a Porsche dealership in house activity, some claim to be able to copy your existing keys transponder to provide a working spare but I don't know if this is correct, the easy way is to get one supplied and coded by the dealership. It isn't cheap at £200+. Good luck with this.

Contact a good Auto locksmith in your area for a key... not necessary to go to dealer. I can do keys for most Porsche but if you let me know your area I can maybe put you in touch with someone who can do the same as me ;)

The paint code is in the front boot. Pull back the carpet on the right hand side to find it.

The 2008 boxster I bought also had the handbook missing. No doubt kept as trophy by the one time Porsche owner who had it before me. [] You can buy one from your OPC for about £25 IIRC.

Thanks for the info guys.

You were right even after you have bought the key they quoted approx. 1 hour to program @ £205 + vat.

So the total would be approaching £300.

I will pursue other avenues.

One of the Porsche centres supplied me with a build sheet but they won't give details of services or parts fitted just to confirm the type

of service given. Not much help.

Andy I live on the Beds/Herts boarders and any help with a local key fob magician would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Gerry
