During 2018 I discussed how I felt the need to get our official “WOTY” back on track to being just that, a weekend away with other like-minded enthusiastic Club members; somewhere not too far away and above all, (for those of us who are time dependant and struggle to take time away from work) must essentially return to the two day format that has worked so well in the past.

Some of the keen eyed members will note that we also have later in the year Philip & Jacquie’s awesome North Coast 500 event which will take place Sept 12-16th There are still a couple of spaces left for those of you who may still wish to register for this longer driving event with Philip.

Maybe these longer events could be called a TOTY (Tour of the Year), who knows, all I know is we are extremely privileged to have so many active members in R3 who are keen to help and get involved.

With this in mind, David & Karen Bradford have kindly asked if they could organise a two day event, which ticks all the WOTY boxes previously highlighted and came up with the idea of a weekend to the Lake District.

April 27th-28th Jaunt to the Lakes.

Saturday

Leave the North East and head to our agreed meeting point near Penrith. From here, David & Karen have lots of ideas for routes and scenic drives, with a potential planned visit to a car museum and lunch stop en-route. (Ideal for those petrol heads amongst us) Here you are free to check out the museum, relax in the restaurant or head off on your own to explore some of the many fantastic routes, pubs or villages back to David’s chosen hotel, the Preston Marriott, or you simply may prefer to stay together and enjoy the sights of driving back through the lakes in an R3 convoy.

On arrival at the hotel you will have plenty of time to check in and relax with friends or why not enjoy the pool and spa facilities before regrouping later for our evening meal the choice is yours.

Sunday

Lazy start after breakfast, from here, take a short trip to fabulous Samlesbury hall for a visit with Janie the Witch who will entertain you with her stories of old and the witches of nearby Pendle Hill, before heading back East via the Trough of Bowland and on to the Yorkshire Dales and for those interested, a coffee or afternoon stop at the Wensleydale Cheese Factory, which is always a firm favourite. Or if you prefer take your own route home at any time at your leisure.

Obviously events like this don’t just happen and take a great deal of planning and organising and I suggest to help David & Karen with their first event of this nature that anyone interested, adds their name to this thread and email David at dvbradford@rocketmail.com so David can compose a list and that you are happy to allow the relevant information and booking code details to be forwarded to you.

David informs me today he has now negotiated a cracking deal with the Marriott for Dinner, Bed & Breakfast priced at only £130.00per couple so get your name down quickly.

More info to follow.

Would have really liked to have been involved with this but will be en route back from India that weekend.

There's never enough time for everything!

Next year.......

Sounds good. This will be our first WOTY - in fact our first Porsche Club run.

Have a bit of a delay so far on menu choices from the Marriott, as the initial offering was limited to say the least. The chef is currently preparing us a new menu as I type. I'll forward that shortly.

I will also be sending out the booking link for the Marriott to you individually, for our discounted offer rates.

Anyone who hasn't emailed me already direct, as Greg says, can you do so please so I can send these through to you.

David B.

Hi Guys,

Are there still places available for this?

If not, happy enough to join for the drive and do our own thing in the evening!

RK

If I (we) can’t make the full weekend wolf love to take part in the Saturday outward leg or Sunday return If that becomes an option?

Sorry for the slow reply. Still plenty of places and I should have more info to send you next week when David returns from holidays.

Think we’ll struggle to make the full weekend, but interested in doing the outward leg, once details available.

David

Evening everyone,

Absolutely, anyone that wants to join for the run out or back who are not staying at the Marriott are totally welcome. The more the merrier. We have plenty more spaces left as Greg said, and we have allocated club parking at the Lakeland Museum, Samlesbury Hall and the Wensleydale factory at Hawes.

I'm sending the booking link tonight to everyone who has emailed me, and reminded the others with a quick PM nudge. Please book as soon as you can as our allocation of rooms will be released back into their booking system if the they are not purchased 4 weeks prior to our arrival.

Menu choices for the evening meal to follow.

David.

Evening again,

Everyone that has sent me an email should have now received their booking form link and someone people have started to book already, so thanks for that.

I'll be sending the meal choices out via Google Forms very shortly. If there are two of you are attending please use the link once for each person. The Marriott needs to have menu choices 5 weeks before, so please reply as promptly as you can.

Thanks,

David.
