well after much faffing and fettling my car is up and running after a total non start issue, I suspected flywheel hall sensors, changed them out and no joy, stripped an immoboliser out today and tried again, NO !
Back to basics and numpty here had not got one of the sensor plugs fully home, now purring and tick over seems smoother, just need to sort my cooling fans not kicking in, changed the rad sensor, fans okay when jumped, wiring from sensor to fans fine ?
Anyway if anyone is after flywheel hall sesnsors here you go Bosch 0 261 210 028, originally fitted to BMW 6 cylinders as a cam position sensor, I got mine for £38 each the only difference between the originals is that the lead is slightly longer, Porsche near enough £200 each and ECP £174 for the original part number.
At least I can now pull it out of the garage to but the interior back together.

Just need to sort the bloody cooling fans now which is turning into a head scratcher, once all sorted got me some sticky Michelin pilot sport cup 2's to go on [:D]

Well Done! Clark's Garage has a good test procedure for the fan relay. Relay can often be repaired ... good thing as they are expensive.
You should add your BMW sensor find to the alternative parts listing...a great solution considering the massive price difference.

Cheers peeps, fans is a head scratcher, relay, fan unit, and wiring all seem fine switching on when linked at the sensor plug, both speeds ?
It is just not pulling in automatically when running.........I will get there.
Bugger !

Hi Jim. If both speeds run by jumpering the relay then most likely the drive transistor is down in the CCU itself. Im assumingits similar to the 911

Hoping to be there Jim. CCU also controls the oil cooling fans on the 911 I expect its the same on the 944. Do you have the elec schematic?

Aye , schematics here fella sensor switches earth point 1st one at 92 then 102 degrees for fast speed, fans work fine, relay okay all works when sensor plug is frigged, 2 fresh sensors tried now.......bloody head scratcher !
