Radiator question

hi all,

as some may know ive undergone a huge engine rebuild with a few more mods along the way.

my reason for this post is a question for any in the know on radiators for the turbo model with mods.

i basically found that my original rad was slightly leaking , so instead of getting it repaired I went straight in to look for a company who could make me a custom rad that would last , and found one.

Heres the thing i had one made and sent to me and it was made thicker with an extra core for better cooling, all tig welded alley and looks a beutifall job, but it was very slightly out in dimension as in the height and width are about 20-40mm too small so the double fan plate holes obviously don’t line up. Therefore I am sending it back along with my original and there going to make me another. My question is, do I really need an extra core compared to the original Porsche design, and havnt heard of any other owners that have said anything about upI got the radiator thickness to gain better cooling? All I’m worried about is if it’s goung to interfere with my hard oil cooler line which looks close as it’s it is ,and also worries it could be too close to the belt covers and restrict access . I’d say it’s about 30mm thicker than original. i was therefore considering getting them to just make me like for like so I don’t run into any problems I could do withought if you know what I mean, I’d rather not have to midlify any hard pipes ect as I stilll have a few things to do on the list before I can finally get her back on the road and start running the engine in for the summer.

just to mension it is purely my street car and I doubt I would ever track it just spirited drives.

The standard radiator hasn't given me any cooling issues in 10 years running 300 ish bhp. You only have to look how quickly it knocks off temp when the fans kick in to see how effective it is. Plus the the 951 front end hoovers air right into it when moving. Also I've never heard anybody bemoaning the usefulness of the standard rad setup.

standard rad is more than good enough... never had an overheating issue due to the rad not keeping up, even with my power level. The only heating issue that I've had in near 20 years is a bad rad temp sensor...

Thanks guys!

Thats answered my quiry, I will ask if they can just copy my original this week as I’d rather have more room to get my hands In To do the belts anyway.

thanks all

Daniel ??
