Blitz / ProMax chip

Ooh - not been on here for years. [:D] hello again all.

Someone I know has just got a nice 944S2. Now that ProMax has closed, is there any way to get a hold of a Blitz/ProMax chip for it? I got my Blitz chip directly (from Richard? Cant find any of the discussion we had) and really liked it.

Thanks in advance!

Just a heads up - although one of limited use I'm afraid. While looking for a chip for my 1991 S2 I found one of the most recommended listed '89 and '90 S2 but not the '91. When queried about it they responded that the '91 popped the master annunciator but they didn't know why so no further work was done on it.

I thought Lindsay Racing and Promax chips were the same thing? If so you could get one from them?

I think you are right Stuart... somewhere I have a set for my 951, not used them for perhaps 15 years...

Thanks guys. [:)]

Lindsay Racing chips are somewhat pricier than my Blitz was. [:-] Inflation....

A company called Accsell Racing sell a chip on ebay for £50 but I have no idea if they are any good or not, I was always led to believe chips were a bit like fishing tackle they reel in the buyers without making much difference.

Maybe that it was only the turbo chips LR and Promax shared.

Promax said they altered the later chips to suit UK cars. As Porsche UK chipped the last few S2's there must be a source for those chips.

Promax chip in an S2 is well worthwhile, although check to see if you car has one already; I am under the impression that there aren't that many S2's around now without one.

My write-up after fitting is here: https://www.porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=541717

If you really don't have one then the easiest way to get one would be to find a friend who has one and copy it. You'd need a chip reader and a blank chip to 'blow' the image to but it's easy enough to do if you know what you are up to.

Hi

Spotted this old thread....
My 944S I suspect the ECU has been chipped decades ago the ECU tabs have been tampered with and has a unmarked eprom fitted which probably here lm convinced it happened during the late 90's and so God knows if any good with the technology available at the time, so with that it's worth replacing it with a known better programmed modern mapped chip in an attempt to smoother running.
So, are there any good ECU Chips which out there as a better fitment now importantly its not for track use but for better normal road usage, I believe Promax (sadly no longer operating) was a good choice but without that choice now I'm open to recommendations Gents.
