Hello all

Does anyone have a good air flow meter for a 1990 944 turbo that they could lend me for a while to help diagnose a fault on my car?

I can collect from Teesside to Tyneside.

It would be very helpful to swap it over and see if it cures the problem.

Thanks.

Big thanks to David and Matthew for agreeing to help with this although I'm in no fit state to work on the car at the moment.

Well the AFM and ECU have been tested and are deemed to be OK so the search goes on.[]

Fuel pressure is spot on (first thing I checked).

I haven't done anything with the injectors as the car actually drives smoothly and I would have thought that if the injectors were blocked it would run lean and not rich.

I don't want to adjust anything to compensate for the fault as the car was running perfectly before this happened and if I can find the faulty part I won't need to adjust things back.

See you tonight if you're at the meeting.

Hi Martyn

Sounds like a typical Lambda sensor fault. Since you have already had the ECU checked seems to point even more to the Lambda sensor. Good look in getting the old one out if it proves to be this

Hello Peter,

I have one ready to fit but I'm not going to attempt it myself as it's really difficult to get at and as you say it wont want to come out.

You don't hear of other people having trouble with them on these cars which makes me wonder if it is that or not but I will get it changed at some point.

I've read that Porsche recommend changing them every 60,000 miles but I don't know if anyone does.

My car has done more than twice that.

I‘m still surprised that your car has one. Very common on the US models for their emissions regulations (along with low compression pistons and other regulatory addenda like those awful rear bumpers).

A garage with an oxy-acetylene torch will have it loose and off in no time.
