Leaking coolant

Hi , just been on a drive for about 40 mins and was about to put the car in the garage when I noticed coolant leaking out from under the rear of the car , looks like it was coming from the header tank cap , is this something anybody has experienced ? Temperature gauge in car showing normal , do I just need a new cap ?
Any advice much appreciated.

Hi, I think the cap is the first place to look, understand it is a common issue, probably cheapest fix if it does the job!

I had the same problem with my 99 Boxster, in my case it was a known problem with a particular batch of caps.
I hope yours is the same cheap to sort repair.

As has been said, the coolant cap is a common problem. The latest version is part number 996.106.447.04 so if you have an older version then it is worth changing. (Part number is moulded into the top). They are £14.35+VAT.

As Richard said the cap is the first port of call, failing that the expansion tanks do fail with hairline cracks and lose coolant under pressure making it a bit of a awkward to diagnose sometimes. A bit of a fiddle to replace but all doable.
Good luck
Andy
