Porsche Silverstone Driving Experience

Was invited a few weeks ago to attend a driving experience day at Silverstone last week.
Me and my son took turns to drive a Cayenne & 718 Boxster on the public roads around Silverstone and then on their test tracks.
The Cayenne is very impressive for such a large vehicle. Had one go on their "ice hill" and lost traction at one point at the back end which was interesting.
And driving the 718 around the handling circuits made me realise I don't push my 981 hard enough around country roads to explore its handling capabilities.
But then I do normally have a "control device" sat in the passenger seat.
Great fun though followed by a three course lunch.

Yes it was really good day been able to compare the the cars back to back, think we attended in the same day (Wednesday last week) as I recognise your Boxster.

I had a great time at the Experience centre recently too. I drove my 991.1 C2S back to back with 991.2 C2S. Overall the 991.2 was a bith easier to drive and quicker due to the additional torque and agility. However, my 991.1's NA 3.8.sounded so much better than and exciting than the 3.0 turbo and the fact that it has less torque and slightly inferior agility made for a more challenging/involving drive. The logic should be the better 991.2 car should be more enjoyable and in one way it is and in another way it is'nt. How's that for being inconclusive!

Isn't it strange that these cars have so much going for them it sometimes comes down to exhaust note.
Although I probably didn't push the 718 Boxster to anywhere near its capabilities with regard to handling (but now wish I had), and although it had the 2.0 litre turbocharged engine kicking out just about the same power as my 981, with its own very sporty turbo distinctive exhaust sound, I still prefer the exhaust note of my normally aspirated 3.4 flat six.
And I have only owned a Porsche for not quite three years so have very little to compare it too.
