Clunking noise when turning into drive !

My Macan makes a clunking noise when i turn into my drive as the front wheels go over the dropped curb. The car has to be tuning left at time of clunk & going over a slight bump. If the wheels are straight it does not make the noise Porsche changed a suspension arm .But it still makes the clunk noise..Porsche have had it back in, but cannot seem to find a problem which seems strange! anyone had same issues?
The noise seems to come from offside front area

Hi Horsesoldiers . No cannot feel it through sterring wheel or front whhel just a clunk when i turn left up a dropped kerb Porsche cannot find a fault !!!!

I have had the clunking noise from day one on my Cayenne.
It is only when i turn left into my drive. If I come in from the other way
it does not do it. Really annoying but she has done 60K miles with the clunk.
Its probably the drive shaft but it cant have been damaged from new
and other KN's have reported it.

OK Have now got to the problem.. Porsche Tewkesbury have had the Macan for a week with no solution . i went for a test drive with the Mechanic & got it to make the clunk noise. Something they could not seem to do ! Anyway had a phone call today the mechanic he said "its the steering rack" so now have to wait till Tuesday before it arrives from Germany hopefully this will be the cause & ill have the car back ~Thursday fingers crossed..Tiskev that may be your problem as well??

I wish you luck as i think they are guessing.
I Cant see them replacing mine after all this time.
Will you have to pay ? If so prepare for a shock !

No under warranty Thankfully £2500.00 otherwise. I hope that they are right but i will update you when i get it back next week..

Daft question but has this only started since weather has got cold ? have you got BIG wheels on your Cayenne ?

could be as simple as you need to change to winter wheels. Summer tyres can go solid in the cold Making them rub when you turn. I had this on my Boxster

Nothing is daft
Always look at the cheapest solution
If you think about it the turn in left is at a different angle to turning from the right
Have you tried it into a neighbours house across the road

No Helen it clunks on 90 degree left turn whenever.
I have not tried a really sharp fast left turn.
I can only assume it is not dangerous as it has gone on for so long.
I think others had the same problem when mine first started.
Happily my new KN 3.6 Petrol(35MPG) does not rumble...

Mine has made the noise in the summer so its not to do with the tyres. Steering Rack!!!! maybe fingers x

I was once quoted £1800 for a steering rack to cure a clunk... luckily, before it went in, I found a loose bolt on a suspension bush. It only clunked on a left turn as well. I tightened the bolt to squeeze the bracket onto the bush and it was silent thereafter.

OK Got the wife's Macan back from Porsche Tewkesbury ,They have fitted the new steering rack ....& all is good no more clunking noise..... so glad to give the loan car back (Volvo XC60) will not be missed for sure

When my short engine was replaced I was given an XC60 loan, ok, but when I researched it I discovered that they retail for the same as our Macans, why you'd want an XC60 when you can have a Macan is anyone's guess.

I,ve just bought a November 2016 Macan Diesel S and when I drive away, (quite normally and modestly not like a maniac) I get a horrible mechanical sound coming from the left hand front corner of the car, but not when the wheels are straight on, only if the wheels are locked over to the right.
It sounds like a possible drive shaft noise, but the car has FPSH and has only just done 20k miles and has only done School runs & Sainsburys !
Anybody else experienced this please, if so, please advise me whether it is a fault which needs attention under warranty as there is still a full Year left.
Thank You.

No mine wasn,t a clunking noise when turning into my drive, it,s a noise which only occurs when pulling away usually uphill when the steering is turned to the right, the noise comes from the l/h/f wheel and doesn,t appear if I pull away with the steering square on ?
Do Porsche main dealerships charge for investigation time ?
