Hi Everyone

I come from a 997 GTS and GT4 and just put a deposit down on the Carrera 2s with X51 at 911 Virgin http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/1334/997C2SX51Manual/ I feel exceptionally fortunate to get such a rare car with such a perfect specification and provenance and is exactly what i was looking for .... a C2s with X51 is super rare, mostly 4s and then with special order colour, low mileage, great spec ... was a "No Brainer" ;)

I need to Insure the car and have had a proposal of £550 from Classic Line plus £25 for guaranteed value ... this seams high as I'm 50 years old "scary to write that" :( never had an accident "fingers crossed" and no points "more fingers and toes crossed" .... What other Insurance Companies offer good service, value and guaranteed value and what Cost would be deemed as acceptable ....?

Many thanks
Andrew

Ten quid a week doesn't sound too bad to cover a valuable high performance sports car, but try NFU. They seems to be competitive atm.
Regards,

Clive

Great car well done. Great place to buy a car too. I like the 911Virgin guys. They have sold cars to many friends and the cars are always superb. As is their service.

I'm not sure how many insurance companies will provide an agreed value policy but, in my limited experience with them, Classicline are pretty good. As Clive says, that price is pretty reasonable for a rare car with agreed valuation but your postcode may affect the premium compared to others. I guess the people you really want to hear from are those unfortunate enough to have made a claim. That's when you finally discover if your premium was worth it! You could shop around but, at the end of it all, how much will you save? Probably no more than £2 a week, if you're lucky.
Nice car - enjoy![:)]

I thought I recognised that spec and number plate it's my old car which I sold in late 2010 for only £4K more than it's advertised there, so that's pretty good depreciation :)

Was a great car and I wished I'd never sold it, especially as I changed to a RR Sport, although that was so bad it only lasted 9 Months till I was back in a 997 GTS

Wow ... Thats a nice coincidence and glad you liked the car. Its only done 5k miles in the last 5 years ... I feel very fortunate to have come across the car. 911 Virgin sold my GT4 a few months ago and i have always liked there stock and their approach to Porsches! I made your decision with my 997 GTS and wish id never sold it and much preferred it to the GT4 but think this X51 C2s with its incredible Spec is going to be a Keeper as can't ever imagine it losing much if any of its current value but doesn't have the ridiculous mileage sensitivity of the GT4 ... :(

Yep ... Tom is in a different class knowledge and experience wise ... ;)

Andrew,

Just to say that I've been with ClassicLine for several years and have been very happy with them. Don't forget that their quote includes UK and European breakdown and that they will accept an agreed value which is available free through the Club, so you don't need to pay the £25 fee to do it through ClassicLine.

Andrew

I am pleased that you have settled upon a model that you like after all the deliberations that you have been through. It's a lovely car that you are buying and it drives very well.

As far as insurance is concerned, you may find that some of the big names are cheaper - Admiral, Aviva etc- but you will have to decide whether you think the cover and service they offer is as good as some of the specialists. It may be worth trying Locktons, the PCGB insurer, but until recently at least they have not been very competitive on modern cars. Could it be that your occupation carries a slightly higher risk than some?

Thanks everyone ... and thanks to 911 Virgin for bringing "Percy" into my life ... only done a 20 minute drive at present but very happy and actually surprised at its turn of speed, but according to old magazines and Chris Harris an X51 2s is as quick as a GT3 up to motorway speeds, it genuinely feels virtually as quick as the GT4 with its horrendous long gearing ... Its just so nice to have a 911 back in my life and for the money an incredible little car, to think its £50k cheaper than my GT4 is incredible bang for your buck ... Last night i sat down with a Cup of tea and went through the cars history file - Wow ... every receipt and MOT in chronological order from start to finish, I'm a bit of a nerd so this really put the icing on the cake, a totally cherished example ... I feel very fortunate and won't make the mistake i made with the GTS and will hopefully make Percy a "Keeper" [:)]
